| Quote ="Him"Not really but then I've not looked through the whole thread. Either way, the issue is that Dr Koukash used the f-word at a press event. Do you think that's acceptable and shouldn't be challenged by the RFL?
Would you think it acceptable for a coach to use the same word in a post match press conference and not be fined?'"
Honestly? I don't have a problem with any chairman or coach using the f-word. None at all. If it had been a family day, or if he'd sworn at the local junior RL club event he recently attended, you would have a point. At a press event? In a post match press conference when emotions may be running high? No, I don't buy it. And this isn't because I'm a Salford fan, it's because I can't stand the prude-like nature of some corners of society. "Ooh, look at the bad man using naughty words, children might hear it, it's a disgrace!"
As it is, rules is rules so he gets the fine. That doesn't mean people can't point out how ridiculous it is, though. You hear swearing at these things on a fairly regular basis, but it's usually brushed over pretty quickly. I remember some scouse boxer squaring up to his opponent saying "I'm going to f**k you up, you little rat" in a press conference and all that happened was that the sound got turned down and Sky Sports News apologised. Was forgotten soon after.
Any comment on swearing amongst the crowd, yet?
Quote ="Him"Why would I?'"
I guess you wouldn't, after all, it may prove you wrong.
Quote ="Him"It was YOU who suggested 95% of this forum want to see it fail. I've not seen that quantity of posts like that. In fact the only one I've seen on here has been from Roofs.
Like the other Salford fans, you're mistaking criticism and not agreeing with Salford being the next 90's Wigan as wanting Salford to fail. '"
Bullsh*t. (Ooh, sorry, I swore, better wait for the fine...) Have a dig back on here. Have a look at posts on the Turkey. Go a bit further, delve through posts on Facebook and Twitter. The vast majority of rugby league fans are lining up to see it fall flat. It's pathetic.
Quote ="Him"In the same way as thinking the RFL fining a club official for inappropriate behaviour as victimisation.'"
Again, if you could point out where I've suggested he's being victimised by the RFL, it'd be much appreciated. Pointing out that it's a ridiculous outcry isn't a claim of victimisation, by the way. As it is, I think it's just another case of the game being run by a bunch of dinosaurs.

Why is ownership the issue? THey both sit on the boards of clubs and have before.
Oh sorry that doesn't fit in with your anti-Bradford stance

More like, Bradford become more successful than Salford, the doc cuts the money he lets his wife spend, so Salford overtake them.

| In my teenage years, I used to play quite a bit of 'Championship Manager' on the computer.
Just to make things easier, I would invent another manager and 'take over' Man Utd. This had a number of benefits:
1) If any of my players turned out to be rubbish, I could 'buy' them as the Man Utd manager, giving me more money at Leeds Utd for the wages of other players.
2) If I couldn't afford a player, I'd 'buy' him for Man Utd and then at a much cheaper rate make the transfer from Man U to Leeds. Sometimes it was worthwhile buying good young players and leaving them at Man U for a while, a kind of "feeder team" before I brought them to Leeds if and when they were good enough.
3) I could reley on 6 points every season, with a big scoreline to boot.
4) IT WAS CHEATING.

Comparing SL to championship manager. I've heard it all
Now. Who's going to he Man U? Salford or Bradford?
You think Brian Noble or Franny Cummins will tell their teams to "take it easy"
Was it cheating when Wigan played their second team against Widnes two years a go?

I'm a bit worried one of his brothers or sisters might want to buy Cas!
On a serious note, it does set a precedent of allowing one family to own more than one club, so in essence he (or someone else with lots of money) could essentially 'buy' the sport by purchasing 6 clubs (the owners of Bradford, London, Hull KR, Cas and Wakefield could probably not refuse a substantial offer). Added to Salford there is a danger of a complete monopoly.

Saints got in a lot of trouble and fined for sending a second team to play Bradford ... In fact it brought in the 19 man squad rule! You lot seemed to think it was cheating given the angry response you all had at the time!

Hahahahahahahahaha!!!! What has this got to do wiv anything?
Anyway, Brisbane and Melbourne were owned by the Murdoch family until last yr, when Rupert sold his shares in the mighty Storm. Look if ya don't wanna get relegated, win more than you lose then you have nothing to worry about. There's so much scrutiny on matches it'll be obvious if Salford throw the match, they say they love the sport, so do the plyers and coaches, therefore they don't want to be involved in throwing a match. Get Mandy in.

Wow... We've gone from discussing the possibility of Mandy Koukash owning her own club outright, to the Koukash family maybe buying 6 clubs. Jesus christ.

Ok, you (amongst others) obviously struggle with analogy.
My points are:
1) If Mr & Mrs Koukash own 2 clubs, they can offoad under-performing players from Salford to Bradford to free up salary cap space at the club they want to be more successful.
2) Young players can be brought to Bradford for development before been 'promoted' to Salford if they are good enough, simply turning Bradford into a feeder club.
3) If Salford need 2 points to finish in the play-offs, who do you think will win?
4) It's cheating.

This simply won't happen. It's jut fantasy land. You could use the same example with Leeds & Wakefield. GH could of course throw their game against Wakefield so his missus is still chief exec at an SL club. Of course it doesn't happen. Fans, players, coaches aren't thick. You really think Franny Cummins would allow the above to happen?? You think fans of Salford would pay to be the others B team?

Wakefield.
But she owned Hull FC for years and that didn't seem to bother people with regard a conflict of interest. Otherwise Leeds would have won the 2005 Cup Final.

The hetheringtons don't own the respective clubs, they still have people to answer to with regards their performance, carter and caddick namely, that the koukash's wouldn't ...
Whilst I doubt it could ever be as blatant as suggested above, should Bradford be taken on by mrs koukash, and then return to the powerhouse that they once were, if they then stood between Salford and success, what's to stop the doctor from whittling down his wife's spending money until they can't compete and Salford over take them? Or is the point Bradford are only ever going to chase to be second fiddle? In which case what's the point?
Chairmen are always going to have people they prefer dealing with, and thus certain teams are going to deal players to each other more than others (Leeds to the kath clubs being the obvious example) and that's fine, but when it is controlling the finances, expectations and abilities of one club controlled by another, there is an obvious conflict of interest flag that shouldn't be ignored.
It's interesting the different reactions from the Bradford, Salford and neutral fans ...
I don't care if they do or they don't, as long as they a) bring back reserves b) offer exemptions for retaining top home grown talent and c) agree a future date (preferably ~3 years) to bring in a simple, 1 per club marquee signing exemption rule.

Over exagerated examples to emphasise the point.
If this koukash bid is allowed, the integrity of the competition dies with it.
