Anyone who doesn't agree the Kiwis are ahead of Australia in the forwards needs to sit down and consider the results since 2005. They certainly are not ahead in the backs.

As for England, Burgess and Ellis have been close to the best forwards in the competition this year. We will see this in the 4N.

BTW, I am on the record as saying the ANZAC ambush is a joke, so disregard those Tests and focus on the ones when the Kiwis have their full complement (less the annual pull-outs cf: Frank Pritchard) and have some proper time to prepare - ie. end of season tournaments.

It will be interesting to see if we call up Chris Heighington then.

Russell Fairfax gave Ellis a huge compliment last night on Foxsportsnews,saying he was the key to the Tigers winning the premiership,and that without Ellis they couldnt win it.

I'll give you Thaiday, Smith and on his day Gallen goes ok. After that the rest would not make a world 13 pack imo. Watching Petro lumber around in last weeks play off game was like watching one of those big old bull elephants, plenty of ticker but best days are way behind him.

Both NZ and England have strong looking packs, but Australia still have an abundance of talent up front. Any team with the likes of Shilington, Thaiday, Lewis and Civoniceva on the park will cause even the best teams plenty of trouble.

Much talk about Ellis who has been pivotal to Wests success but he is one dimensional compared to Bird. He is a player that makes a difference to every side he plays for and there are not many players you can say that about

Bird and Gallen at Cronulla were a great pairing.

Bird plays a lot like Scott Hill did.

Hill probably a bit more skill.

When he played for us he was either outstanding or anonymous. Even though we only got the equivalent of 1 season out of his 2 years with us, when he turned it on, our whole team looked better.

He was in fairness probably a little past it by then.

But yeah...shock horror...I agree he could do that to a team.

What's even more shocking is he could do it to Harlequins Rugby League.......

I wish something positive would happen in London club rugby league again!
