It is becoming very clear that Burgess wants tough defensive players to stay in the game and use flair players like Williams, Ashton, Dufty and Wrench to break up play. It’s the likes of replacing low mobility low minutes players like Kasiano and Dudson with strong defensive hard working forwards. We already have Harrison, Nicholson, Crowther and there are not many better out there than Yates. It’s a yes please from me.

Where does he play and who does he displace, doubt he'd want to come in to be a bench player.
I'd be happy with him in the team but like i said before, i'm just unsure where he would play?

I was going to say Wine Lodge and if it's for next season as part of planned outgoings and incomings then my first reaction is 'Blob On'.

OR if it's this year, I'd say he's an upgrade on Kasiano and Dudson at this stage of their careers.

Since he came back from the silly ban he has been posting some good numbers and is in form.

As a quota player id have preferred a specialist prop, but hes probably the best of whats off contract, just hope he doesnt slow the progress of some of our young middles, but if he comes with the right next man up attitude he could be great.
I know he has bought into life over here beng involve at junior rugby so a little surprised he hasnt renewed at hudds.

He's 29, as others have said strong in defence works hard in middle of park.

I think Yates will be a great signing. Knows the competition, appears to have settled well, hits hard and has a great engine. Not the biggest but he seems to really play above his weight.

Wire will have a real battle to get Yates. Compared to some he is very low risk for me. I cannot really see Hudds letting him escape but salary cap can make clubs do strange things & he will obviously be testing just how much he can get.

They are reputed to be favourites to sign George King from Hull KR so maybe they are already committed to losing Yates?

They also have Tom Burgess, Hill, Wilson, English, Greenwood and Ikahihifo plus others I assume under contract for 2025, so they already have a lot of salary cap tied up in the prop department.

Tom Amone would be a good pick up for us as well if it were possible, think he is out of contract.

Yates would be a great signing as he’s already settled here.
No homesickness.
He’s been immense for Hudds this season.
Doesn’t miss his tackles and has got a pass in him like Hilly has.

The noise out if Hudds is like they’ve already lost him.

I can't use the quote button, but an accurate assessment of the situation. Huddersfield have upped there wage offer, and other clubs are involved now as well.

Yates is big mates with Fitzgibbon from days at Newcastle together I believe
