| Quote ="Wellsy13"Back to the thread,
Bradford vs Wigan - On Sky, Bradford on the slide crowd-wise, 10k
Leeds vs Quins - Leeds in bad form, no away support, 13k
Hull FC vs Cas - Hull in good form, Cas bring a fairly decent following for this one, 14k
Salford vs Catalans - Two worst teams in the league. Salford have crap crowds and Catalans will bring 2 people, 3k
Wakefield vs Hudds - On Sky, Hudds take very few even to local derbies, Wakey crowds aren't exactly huge, 6k
Hull KR vs Saints - Saints in good form, Rovers back to winning ways, 9k
Wire vs Cru - Wire doing well, Cru bringing a few to this apparently, 11k
I think some people have estimated a few thousand over the top on some of these. 66k +/- 2k, so not far off 10k average but I don't think we can expect that with a 3k crowd in there. 3k should not be acceptable for top flight sport.'"
Not half as bad as some like to make out and improving year on year.

| As I've pointed out on a couple of other threads:
We have an other sports forum to discuss other sports.
Crowds for association football or rugby union in New Zealand or anywhere else are distinctly 'other sport'.
I'm currently tidying the thread: after I do that and unlock it, please stay on topic.
A general warning: we're not going back to the days when the VT, which is a forum for discussing rugby league, was fully of dick-comparing contests talking about RU or Aussie Rules. As we seem to be getting more threads heading that way, I'll be clamping down on them.

| So which team is likely to be the next to crash through the 10k average barrier?
Hull KR
Huddersfield
Les Catalans or someone else?

Haha, crusaders, forgot bout them.
You never know, things are looking up atm for the Welsh club.
I noticed Hudds are stuck around the 7.5k and have been there for 2 or so seasons, do you think they can get close to 10k this year, they have a decent team?

| They had good improvements on the back of GREAT season pass deals.
Decent team, I reckon they'll come in about 5th but with all those deals, if they haven't hit 10k yet losing a LOT of money then they never will imho

| Bradford need a new coach to bring some positivity back. That's horrendous for a crowd against a big name like Wigoon. What sort of crowd will they draw for Catalans or Salford?
Salford's crowds need to double if they are to remain in SL. I'll repeat it, how on earth are they still operating with income streams like that?

You can add Harlequins to that conundrum too. It'll be Salford that get booted though. Straight swap for Widnes.

| Thats exactly what it should be.
I mean, people call the Crusaders but between them and Salford now, there's a galaxy.
Quins always have that expansion card and the nice new stadium to fall back on.
Interestingly though, if Salford moved to the trafford centre..would they be within 20 miles of any other club? I bet it would be close...

| leeds crowds are poor
are the people of leeds just bored with winning SL or is the fact that utd will soon be promoted the difference

without wanting to turn this thread into another license debate...Quins application will be weaker this time, crowds have fallen further (therefore so will revenue) their performances have slipped (used to be outside bets for a playoff spot, now seem to be heading for the bottom 2/3) so apart from the ground and the location, I don't see what other criteria they meet. The RFL will probably introduce a last minute 'points for having quartered shirts' rule at the last minute though
Salford are in a worse state though, I can barely see them meeting any of the criteria, I can't understand where their crowds have gone. I know its a poor ground but the crowds have dipped the last few years...you can't even say its due to their form, as they have always struggled in SL (except for their one playoff finish)

Workington failed quite miserably though didnt they.
What has changed in the inherent problems a cumbrian side would have to make the chances of success higher?

| I reckon HKR will go through the 10k avg when there East stand extension is built. That will add another 1500 to the capacity and encourage alot more walk ups.

The ST deal didn't actually lead to a massive increase FYI. Our improvements have been steady, season after season and whilst they weren't as big as the club would have wanted after the ST deal last season the recession and reduction in floating support from home and visiting supporters took an edge off it.
The reality is that we've increased our attendances year on year for the last 4-5 seasons.
It is totally incorrect to put our increases down to the ST deal so to base your opinion on that fact is flawed.
