Apart from a petulant slap from Hock there was nothing more than handbags from Leigh for the rest of the match. Aggressive yes and lots of pushing and posturing but nothing nasty.

Fev have been charged with headbutting a man who was on the floor, then eye gouging the same player straight after. Another lad charged with a reckless high tackle.

Leigh were by no means angels but I think claiming it was 'retaliation' from Fev is a very soft argument. Even if it were true I don't think 'retaliation' is any excuse for eye gouging a player on the floor, do you?

Yet beswick get away with Gouging Wood. Not condoning what wood did, but he retaliated to being Gouged. He's had photos of his eye taken after the game.

Sorry but that incident was caught on camera from a dozen angles on SKY cameras and others. If even one of them suggested a hint of a gouge then Beswick would have been called up as it is a very serious charge (Grade E, 4-8 matches)

Seems to be a theme from Fev recently. Their players get hit with doping bans and they declare that all the Leigh players are about to get done too. One of their players gets charged with eye gouging and suddenly it was Leigh that were eye gouging 1st, despite no signs of it at all from the extensive TV footage.

Wood could have been caught in they eye by any number of people in that tackle. As pointed out if there had been anything in his claim Beswick would have been summoned as well but I think Bob got SB sufficient didn't he after the whole incident was scrutinised by the committee.

I've seen the BBC footage in slo-mo and there simply is no evidence of Bob Beswick or any other Leigh player gouging Paul Woods eye. The 'evidence' of a mark on his face is meaningless, it could have happened in a multitude of ways.

Paul Wood is facing 2 charges and could get a 5-10 game ban if found guilty on both, Reni Maitua could get 1-2 if found guilty, and Gareth Hock could get between 0 and 1 games if he's found guilty.

The game at Blackpool was rubbish because of all the hugging and dancing the players were doing. However, only the eye gouge crossed the line of acceptable behaviour on a rugby league field. Everything else was run of the mill handbag stuff.

P.S. There's a lot of people on this thread that may be unpleasantly surprised should they ever meet a real thug

Provide the evidence that Bob did it. A photo of a mark under the eye proves nothing. Several people involved in the tackle, could even have been an accidental fingernail of one of his own.

The powers that be have had a look and the result of this look has been published, who are we to argue? Imagined evidence just keeps the cauldron boiling, it isn't going to make a difference.

OK, we get it, this is getting tedious now, Leigh's coach and players shouldn't be allowed to take advantage of poor refereeing and the RFLs inability to get a grip of discipline because its unfair as the refs all umpire everyone else so perfectly and the RFL comes down on other clubs like a ton of bricks!

Leigh, this season, are better than everyone else in the Championship by a country mile and they are better than at least two teams in SL, get over it!!

Oh, one more thing, Kay was not pushed into touched, he grounded the ball carrying arm & the tackle was complete, Fev then dragged him into touch, penalty to Leigh ? No, the weak ref couldn't even get that right.

I thought this thread had died, I looked who has resurrected it after 4 days off and it is a Leigh fan, glutton for punishment or what?

After such a lengthy thread panning Leigh, it might be interesting to note that Featherstone players have been banned for a total of 7 games from this match, whereas Leigh have only got a solitary (and deserved) one game ban for Mr Hock.

I resurrected the thread because I am a fairly irregular visitor, because I hadn't read all of this thread & because it contains so much vitriol & drivel.
Sometimes you just want to put your own two penneth in & this time I did.

While it's fair to say there are valid arguments on both sides, some of the moronic
bandwagon 'I hate Leigh & their fans drivel' needs shooting down.
