No they ' Encouraged ' them , because having only one club in the Championship pass criteria after 3 years is a pretty poor endictement of how things are in the Championships , and it helps to pretend that we are having an ' application ' process rather than an ' elimination ' process

And if we still had (semi) automatic P&R, Fax still wouldn't know which competition they're playing in next year. Nor would a number of other clubs (at both championship and SL level). And of course, Halifax are not alone in not knowing which league they're playing in next year.

Not quite correct, stadium criteria has been round for a while, i forget which but one of Dewsbury or Hunslet werent admitted at our expense one year cos the stadium wasnt up to speed

That was around 98/99 IIRC. Has to be said however that even at that time there was no application process and the decision not to promote was made once it became clear who the champions were.

Bob McDermott was Dewsbury chairman at the time and couldn't afford a legal challenge to the ruling, think he was also chair of the APC which was the then umbrella body of the NFP clubs.

What is beyond me is the fact that you constantly refuse to factor in the RFL's famous sliding goalposts!

There are other benefits of expansion clubs that aren't applicable to heartland ones, regardless I certainly believe there is huge growth potential in London and wrexham. I have never argued that they should be in SL forever regardless of attendance I'm simply intelligent enough to understand it may take a little time and we shouldn't give up because it hasn't worked immediately.

My opinion on tonights game is fairly meh. I have no real issue with it, dont hate it, doesnt excite me. The fact it has replaced actual international competition however is ridiculous.

But yes, if they expected it to work straight away and be in front of a packed house they would be fools, the concept would need time and effort to be a success.
