| Quote ="Famous"Huddersfield's attendances have risen dramatically though and they should be commended for how they have improved both on and off the field.'"
The crowds have improved due to the number of kids that get in for next to nothing, we used to give most schools in the area free tickets in the hope the kids would then pester their parents to take them, paying full price.
Good marketing, but damn annoying if you happen to sit near a group of kids.

| Quote ="Famous"That simply isnt true in the case of Wigan and Saints. Until recent times though Warrington have never been that well supported and Huddersfield are exceeding what Warrington did 12 years ago.

Not far off :
2000 :
Wigan 9,466, lowest 6,697
Saints 8,830 lowest 6,694
Wire 6,872 lowest 4,572
2012
Huddersfield 8,352 lowest 6,928
....like i said what was acceptable for those clubs back then is somehow deemed poor nowadays.
Plus thats without a major trophy win which both Saints and Wigan had at that time !

| The league, attendance-wise, has grown massively on average since 2000 though - comparing Hudds now to teams 12 years ago isn't quite the point.
Personally speaking, I can give a couple of reasons why Huddersfield seem to irritate:
1. The stadium - does anyone really enjoy going to the Galpharm? If, like the DW, it had a decent number in each week, maybe it would feel more worthwhile. But it's just too big for the club and, even if Huddersfield are a competetive team, a game vs Hudds there just doesn't feel like a big game, and watching a game from there on TV is positively tedious for some reason - it just gives the impression that if no one locally gives a crap, then why should I?
2. Smiler & Fartown Jonny

I dont know where you are getting your figures from but Wigan's average attendance in 2000 was 10,532.
Huddersfields for last season was 7,828, I dont really see how you can use an average after half a season with all the anomalies that occur as a result of that. If you compare this to 2000 Wigans back then was about 35% higher in 2000, Saints was about 15% higher than what Huddersfield today.
Since 2000 SL attendances have grown considerably and last year Wigans average was 18,398. Looking at this season Saints are averaging 14,877 (Cant use last year as they were at Widnes), and even the last season at Knowsely Road 2 years ago they were 11,190. Warrington last season had an average of 11,166, and have an even higher average this season, and have too had a huge rise since 2000 as have Hull. Huddersfield's may have grown since 2000 but you can easily argue that other clubs have had very similar rises. 7828 is deemed poor these days because from a crowds perspective it puts you in the bottom half of SL at a time when all the big clubs get 10,000+, you simply cant compare crowds from today to 12 years ago as a defence.

| lol i give up ...........i wasnt comparing as such i was making a point that even though our crowds are around the same as what the other's were getting back then .....its now classed as a poor number because the succesful clubs have more fans now due to being succesful whereas we havent had any but are stil achieving numbers which were acceptable back then!!!
think you've just proved what code 13 said earlier when he said there is no answer to what is acceptable apart from 'not Huddersfield' !!

| I'd normally support the club that hasn't won much in the semis and final. But not this time. Giants fans don't deserve a trip to Wembley after that terrible effort.

I don't think you're a victim, I think you and some of the other Hudds fans are acting like victims.

| The problem with cup games, and play off games, are that if you lose, it's money not wasted, and if you win, you can always see them in the next round. Semi-finals are different, because you are playing for the prize of the final and all the excitement that brings. The earlier rounds are just a chance to have a chance to have a chance.

| Which brings us back to the point that Huddersfields low cup crowd is simply symptomatic of the problem ALL clubs have in getting bums on seats for cup games.

i paid £100 for mine cos i get benefits due to being an existing ST holder............new ones pay £200 or something .
We did offer £50 tickets behind the goals for the first 500 or something, i actually only 1 person who took up that offer so wasn't exactly a freely available deal which some people seem to think.
Good effort last night i thought but bet there wont be 20 odd pages praising the crowd this week !!!!!!!!

| Less than 8000 home fans for a top of the table clash is shocking for such a big club. I wonder what Wire, Saints, Leeds v Wigan pull in.
