| KR brought nothing to the LSV last season, granted the CC was priorty. But then again find themselves in the middle 8's this season.Salford's team by default shouldn't have been there this season.A cat only has so many lives regardless of Derbies. Not a case of what you bring to SL,its were you finish,is it not?
The bells rang out to replace Wakey last season, they learn't their lesson, some haven't.

| No one was piping up about mortgages when it looked like Wakefield were going down last year...
Ben Cockayne should put a sock in it, as all other players complaining. They knew the score since the start of last season. And ATEOTD, these players have been lucky to have their hobby as their job. RL is a relatively short career anyway playing wise.

| Now Webster has weighed in with his views on the 'concept'. After Peacocks view that money should not go to the Championship clubs, and Cockaynes foot stamping about the new concept. Webster pipes up with the implication that promoting someone from the Championship weakens Super League. A bit of info for you Mr Webster, both teams in the MPG were beaten by the club going up who will strengthen prior to next season. Also HKR have been beaten by 2, yes 2 Championship teams this season (Oldham the other) and Salford have been beaten by 2 also (London the other). So I actually fail to see how it can be said promotion of a Champ club weakens SL.

Oh come on, there was this sort of talk last year. Perhaps not hitting it on the nose, but there was the same sort of grumbling flying around from over your end. Wakefield are just incredibly lucky that they didn't croak out at the end of last season like they did this year.

Not quite mass hysteria but I clearly remember Nick Scruton & possibly Scott Moore mentioning mortgages....now whether this was before or after the final whistle I can't remember.

I don't think one article can be classed as 'mass hysteria' - a quick googling led me to an interview with Nick Scruton where he says the following:
"If the worst was to happen, I'd have to assess my options but I don't think it should come down to a situation like this.
"It seems stacked in clubs' favour that they can just tear up your contract."
Doesn't sound dissimilar to what Cockayne is saying, no?

A bit of a contradiction there to be honest. 'Salfords team by default shouldn't have been there', and 'Wakey last season, they learned their lesson'. It's all 'ifs and but's', however I presume that you are referring to the Salford points deduction. With this in mind, if they hadn't have had the deduction then Wakey would be in the same position again as they would have taken Salfords place in the qualifiers, showing that they actually hadn't learned their lesson on the field, they were just lucky that Salford have a clown of an owner who broke the rules and got caught and penalised for it. However, I believe that Salford should be there as you have to take a club as a whole and not just on the playing side.

You cant blame anyone for playing the system but, this system is just wrong on so many levels.
For the RFL to contrive a system when relegation comes down to the last 80 minutes of the season, every season, may make exciting viewing for impartial armchair viewers, is flawed.
We have 21 regular rounds, plus 7 more "super 8" games and yet "we" still want one more game, why ??
Of course, cup finals are "all or nothing" events but, the cost of losing is not quite so severe.
(I agree that it would be great for Trinity to play a full season although, there would be some very unhappy supporters (of other clubs) if they did )

Wakefield played the system deliberately for 2 years. Leigh were just not good enough when the chips were down in one year. But then you know that. System now is weighted in favour of the 4 SL clubs. They play 4 champ sides, so by design if SL is so superior only one will be in the MPG and that should be straightforward. In all sports you should earn your right to play at the level your club performs to.
For the RFL to contrive a system when relegation comes down to the last 80 minutes of the season, every season, may make exciting viewing for impartial armchair viewers, is flawed. You mean like 2006 for example - Cas v Wakey - loser relegated and there have plenty more when the chosen few were not protected (2008-2014)
Its 23 rounds by the way and then 7. Plenty time for a SL club to prove they are worthy of SL and the 'riches' that come with it. Koukash has already stated no players will lose there job. OK he doesn't mention money, but hey thousands of people lose jobs or have to take a lower paid job week in week out. RL is their job, they have had all season to prove they are SL players. If they are they will be picked up by a SL team if they are not then they are deemed of lower ability. The back office staff are the ones put out of work by the underperforming players.
Three HKR personnel have come out with some really crass statements since they realised they were likely to be involved. Peacock stating the Championship clubs should not get the money they do. Cockayne trying to use the mental health card (thousands of ordinary hardworking people suffer paycuts lower paid jobs etc) and now Webster insulting the Centurions in saying the standard of SL is reduced with promotion.
Wonder if Wakey will ever spend any of the millions they have received over the years on a decent ground by the way or even making the dump you are at now safe.

Why, is that what Leigh did?
Once again another supporter deriding other clubs facilities like they actually financed their own shiny new facility themselves.

Not sure how anyone can support the idea that clubs can just rip up contracts if a team is relegated. Doesn't happen in football, never heard of it happening in cricket or rugby union either.
It's not fair on players at all

I think it's more of a case of players wanting to leave as it's probably wrote into contracts that they have to take a pay cut so in reality clubs want rid and the players want to go

| Should cockayne be playing the mental health card?
Many people are in that situation, that if they perform poorly then potentially they lose their job and earn less money, which then has a knock on effect on mortgages etc. That's a normal situation. No one would have any sympathy for John Smith off the street who performs poorly at work and loses his job, so why should it be any different for a rugby player. Why is there sometimes this attitude that they have no agency, no control over their situation. Although it's a team sport and a player could play great all year individually and end up in the MPG, if they play great there won't be any problems.
If cas had ended up in the MPG game despite Luke Gales performances would Luke gale have any problems obtaining a decent contract? Hell no.
Are mortgages [ireally[/i on the line? It's not like they'll ring the bank up to tell them they're out of the work and then get hit with the response ''we'll be round tomorrow to repossess''. They'll get a payment plan, they'll get time to get themselves back on track. They could look for work elsewhere, they could go into coaching there's all kinds of possibilities.
Ive been in that situation, where if I didn't achieve a certain standard i'd be taken to disciplinary likely resulting in dismissal. Huge pressure. There was no article in the press ‘’flexwheeler concerns over job security'' no one would have batted an eyelid or cared. Cockayne -welcome to the jungle baby!
But yes, big bad RFL destroying these poor helpless players with the MPG. The footballers are already molly coddled, basically grown babies who don't need to wear knappies, let's not have the same for the rugby players.
I'm looking forward to the game.

If you simply apply the same rules you experience in your daily life to these people you quickly lose any sympathy and don't care.
The game should be a corker if it's a bad as cockayne claims, a real bruiser!
