So what positives do you see in Wigan whoring themselves around the Rugby Union world? What does raising the profile of Wigan in RU circles do apart from expose Wigan's junior players to more offers from RU?

I think Leneghan sees the future as being one code of professional rugby and wants Wigan to be first in the queue. Not sure I'd want to be in that position. I can see no other reasons for getting in bed with Saracens, as they are a loss making orgnisation themselves so it's not like there are any commercial lessons to be learned.

Not really, top try scorer 2 years running and a massive contribution to the Grand Final and Challenge Cup wins, hardly taking the Micheal is it. I feel more sorry for your lot, fancy new stadium and an empty trophy room, as usual.

This was in our discussion last week, the club seems to be going out of its way to promote the clubs exposure to Rugby Union. Maybe they will jump ship in a few years once there supporters drift into the neutral zone of the 2 codes.

Looks like they don't generally need what we'd call basic, they just specialise elsewhere. Where they specialise I can't see, but I presume they must have something more obvious to union fans.

Used to think they tended to kick for goal because the points system made it worth it. Slightly forming the opinion they just aren't very good at scoring tries

That rule epitomises what is wrong with Union to me. By having that rule you de-incentivise attacking play. Either you intercept and score a length of a a field try, you drop it and the other team can apply more pressure from a scrum or you drop it and you've left a gap the attacking team to exploit. By being allowed to go for the ball you're creating a more exciting spectacle, but is illegal but its deemed 'unfair'. When I played Union as a kid it was explained to me in terms of fairness, that if the rule didn't exist then every player would run forward and knock the ball to the floor to kill the oppositions defence... which isn't fair... There's a logic of sorts in there...

The ref had called a knock on, but Tomkins draws three defenders into the corner of the pitch and times his run and pass, so he can throw the ball inside to his players with his last step in play, commiting the three defenders to the tackle... and the commentators say nothing... even when its replayed...

He's trying too hard to make a break every time he gets the ball imo, need to try and slow it down a bit especially considering he's not played the sport before. But you can't blame him for giving it a go i suppose.
