As soon as I saw it i knew he'd broken something, i broke my leg last summer after a similar innocous tackle. It was my fibula, i think he's done the same. 6 week in plaster, 4-6 week rest/physio then he'll be playing again.

What i've heard today, he broke both his fib and tib.....season ended imo.

Tib and Fib with todays rehab will be ok (could be worse) if that is true about his injury. Would be a shame to lose a player of his ability. Of what i have seen iam sure he will come back strong. Good luck.

poor lad, Sky could of turned down the volume on the constant screaming, made me feel uneasy, would hate to imagine how hos friends and family felt.

Sadly another talent out of the game fo a long period, at such an early age.

He will be back, he has the support of the ENTIRE RL community behind him.

The beauty of this game is that no matter which team you follow you would not wish a serious injury on any player.

There were a group of Bulls fans behind me who had exactly the same attitude saying "What was wrong with that?" when the referee stopped the game; and then moaning about how long it was taking for him to be treated. Some people these days have a shocking lack of respect for the players in our sport.

But anyway, I'm absolutely gutted for the lad. He's one of our best young players and we're going to miss him whilst he's out of action. Best wishes for a speedy recovery Richard.

I arent a surgeon, So i cant comment in full.

As most have seen Richard Owen suffered a double break in his leg and it has definately ended his year, There is no way he will step on a rugby field even for rehab until the season is over.

Apparently though they arent sure if they are able to operate on it from the outside? So if they have to go inside to operate it will end his career.

I wish Rich a speedy recovery, but if not speedy, I just pray he recovers as it could ruin his career

that would be just devastating for him if he wernt able to play again,fingers crossed the surgury goes well and we see him on a rugby pitch has soon has possible regardless of who its for.

What does that even mean?

Does it need operating on? Sometimes these breaks can be manipulated so they fuse without having to operate and put in screws and plates. Depends on the severity of the breaks.

Our lass broke both those bones when ice skating but was lucky enough to avoid having an op. She was 12 weeks in plaster and a further 8 weeks after that in re-hab. However this was NHS re-hab so this could be speeded up.

He may not have seen the last of this season hopefully.

He will be fine. In many regards fractures are far more preferable to severe tissue damage. With the right treatment he will be fine. A massive set back, yes. But even if he requires open surgery to insert pins and plates he will be fine. Often pin and plates speed up recovery as the need to immobilisation is not as great, therefore muscle atrophy is less.

He will be fine!

Best wishes Richard, hope to see you on the pitch again before too long - RL needs players like you to keep old gits like me watching and saying to our kids and grandkids ' I used to be able to do that' (and not saying it was all in our dreams!) Stay positive, don't rush things and use the time this injury has given you to good effect.
