I remember all the threads at the time.....hours of endless fun repeatedly asking for FACTS instead of rumours and opinions. Bottom line is, part of the Licence application reasoning was to ensure that clubs didn't do a London or Widnes in the future. If it's true, and Wakey did raise a load of revenue to get their licence, but now find themselves in trouble, I can see only one outcome and it's not one that Wakefield will find palatable.
The cold hard facts as I see them is that (removing the Salford game as there is no comparison from last year) average gates for the corresponding fixtures so far are 17% down on last year....so about 1,100 less fans per game. This is worrying as if these fans are worth £10 each a ticket and another £10 on residuals (beer food etc) then that is a £22,000 a game hole in the clubs finances.
£300,000 less revenue than last year points to headcount needing to be reduced (either playing or back room staff) to ensure the club stay on course to achieve the targets they were set by the RFL.
As for the new ground, I still say that unless £30,000,000 is already in place, Wakefield and Castleford should share a new stadium. This is not a merger, just financial common sense.

Lastly, I would hate to see any club go to the wall and I hope Wakey can turn their "supposed" problems around.

P.S. Before some wag comes along and points out that a Quins fans is harping on about attendances, I was only looking at the overall picture at wakey, where some players seem to be on very good wages. In London, we have "managed the expectations" of our players and therefore can operate on out piddly little crowds.

Please explain? Crowds are 2 points in the licence appplication and we are fully aware of the need to increase them. As for the other options open to us, these include feilding 3 current England internationals, sitting 5th of 14 with a game in hand, having an award winning community team, playing one of the fastest growing team sports in the Greater London area, having a team with more british players than some other "older" teams, having a reserve team sitting 5th with a game in hand that is full of home grown talent.....

So you should enjoy watching the success of the Giants after all the under achieving they have done in the past year or two, and so would I if I were a fan of the club. My theories I will keep to myself as to this fixation of yours regarding Wakefield. I personally dont feel disturbed about it. As for the fans at Wakey I am sure it is only curiosity on their part as to why you seem determined to not only go over old well troddened ground but to actually keep labouring the point. You really need to get a grip on reality and get out from behind your PC.

How anyone could believe the RFU would help save a league team is beyond my comprehension!

I made no comments that were anything other than my own feelings on the matter. I have not commented either way on the financial stuff, other than to say that I am not aware of any truth in the rumours of any difficulties, as I do not have a definitive answer to give.

My comments were to the effect that what we see on the pitch usually reflects events off it. There are clearly unhappy people at the club - I have no idea as to why - other than the usual 'it's contract time' bit.

If anything, my understanding is that the club are planning to take us forward - and perhaps some of our players have realised that they are not good enough to be part of it? I really don't know!
