| Origin is 'natural' and not manufactured???? The rivalry yes, but the rules for eligibility are a load of cobblers and have been manufactured in their entirety.

| The rules for eligibility are very clear and have been so since the start. But at the end of the day players are essentially able to choose when there is a question mark. There is only one bloke who has played Origin for the wrong team and everyone knows who he is and he will forever be a joke as a result.

Under State of Origin rules players are selected for the state in which they first played senior (or registered to play) rugby league. I believe Greg Inglis played his first Senior game in NSW for the Newcastle Hunter club. He Plays for Queensland in SoO.......what part of that didn't break the rule above?
Under State of Origin rules players must be eligable to play for Australia.Akuila Uate (born 6 October 1987 in Votua, Fiji)
On the 15th of May 2011, Uate was selected on the wing for the NSW State of Origin team for Game 1 of the 2011 State of Origin series. This happened after he wrote to Rugby League International Federation chairman Colin Love, requesting a change of allegiance from his native Fiji to Australia giving the most b0ll0k excuse I have heard for switching international countries. Colin Love had a pretty important job before his RLIF post by the way....Chairman of...wait for it, NSWRL.
I repeat, the rules are bent as and when required....regardless of how clear you think they are.

| The rules are you play for the state where you played your first representative football from age 16 or up. Inglis played his first rep football in Brisbane. Uate played his first EVER game for the Wyong Kangaroos. So the rules have been applied exactly as written in both cases.
And there is no such thing as the "Newcastle Hunter club" so you are just showing the kind of ignorance I would expect from a union troll. You don't know the rules, you don't know anything about the players' backgrounds and you don't know anything about the game here at all, which is why you make up clubs that don't exist. Credibility bye bye.

| Yes he was. He moved here as a small child. The only difference is he chose to play for PNG. Even though it's nothing more than a "third world country" full of criminals and and corrupt politicians apparently.

glad to see our efforts to educate you are not being wasted!
SOO eligibility is as flexible as a gymnast. If it suits your in. Uate had made himself eligible for Fiji meaning he was not eligible for Australia for 2 years meaning he should not have played for NSW. I have no problem with it, they should just stop the pretence and allow anyone who wants to play in it eligible depending on where they align themselves with.
The sad thing is in his desire to play SOO RL has lost the opportunity for a star player like Uate to really be a figure head for the game in Fiji.

Wrong. He played for Fiji in the last World Cup cycle. He now has the ability to change allegiences if he applies to the RLIF, which he did. If he played for Fiji last year he wouldn't be allowed to play for NSW, but he didn't.

wrong!
the rules stated, which the ARL signed upto too, that you could switch in 2009...but whoever you played for in 2009 you where tied into that country for the next 5 YEARS.....hence why hayne, jennings, bridge & harrison all switched after the last world cup......
UATE played for fiji in the 2009 pacific cup...that tied him into fiji until after the 2013 world cup.....

| Absolute nonsense. The rules are that there is an "election period". This period is essentially from World Cup to World Cup. You are allowed to change your allegience ONCE DURING THAT ELECTION PERIOD if you apply to the RLIF. So you have one allegience and you change it and that's it. Uate has changed his. If you want to go calling people muppets you should really make sure you know what you're talking about first. But we all know you go off half-cocked and make stupid, incorrect statements all the time, like your infamous "New Zealand has never beaten England/GB in a series in England" when of course they have won not one, not two, but three.

By Robert Dillon - ARL chief executive Geoff Carr has ordered Country Rugby League officials not to select Knights flyer Akuila Uate for next Friday's representative clash with City Origin at Port Macquarie. | This from the pillock who didn't know New Zealand beat GB in a series in England in 1998. But claimed they have never done so. Even though they did it THREE times. And doesn't know what the southern cross looks like either. And claims he's not a biggot because he's "got a black mate" George Costanza style.

The fact that this entire reply has nothing to do with the previous post is an admittance of defeat. Well done.

| Maybe I can be mates with your "black" mate too and then I can claim I'm not a biggot too. Or at least let me take a photo next to him. And just how black is he? Because he has to be really, really black. Not just a bit black. What shade of black would you say?

What's the post got to do with anything anyone on this thread has been talking about? Nothing. Doesn't that tell you something?

If ECT knew so much about RL, he'd have a reply for this from spud:
