What was interesting was that Wigan came out and thanked Widnes for allowing the dual contract to be cancelled - the club who benefits from this i.e. Cas, couldn't bring themselves to show the same courtesy.

It appears that although we had the choice to say no, there wasn't much point as we also have Laim Farrell on dual contract and Ben Davies on loan. No doubt had we refused to cancel Ainscough's dual deal, Wiagn would have recalled all 3 players and we wouldn't have been able to make any more dual deals.

We basically have allowed Wigan to all over us and thanked them for doing so. IMO Widnes should have told Wigan where to go. Having Davies and Farrell on loan helps us out a tad, but I very much doubt either player is going make much difference to our season overall.

Here is an idea, albeit a crazy one. Why not produce your own players rather than rely on Wigan to send you youngsters.

Soo Widnes and Leigh have been piddled on by wigan this year in relation to this.

Here's another idea... why not try finding out the facts before posting stupid things like that? They've got young wingers like paddy flynn who are out injured. Gaskell is another winger who's unavailable for them.

Widnes, just like cas, needed ainscough because they DO have young wingers but they are injured.

Not sure about that he could be, I didn't say he was a widnes product I was just explaining to codarmysaint that the only reason widnes were 'depending' on Ainscough was due to injuries to other wingers and not because they don't have any of their own youngsters.

Fair enough. I can understand the frustrations of the Widnes supporters who feel aggrieved at the current situation.

However, looking at it from Wigan's point of view it makes perfect sense. Shaun Ainscough is, assuming he develops the way Maguire wants, going to be a Wigan first team player in the next year or two. If we can loan him out to a Championship side to get experience then great but if there is the opportunity to send him to a Super League side he will get greater experience, training, understanding of the game et al.

It benefits Shaun more and Wigan more. It f*cks Widnes over but that's there problem. Dog Eat Dog comes to mind.

Surely the point of the dual contract system is to develop plays by giving them a higher grade of "reserve" rugby? The reserve league isnt the best so this helps that.

It cant be in the players interest to chop and change like this? Two clubs systems is a challenge but worth it as the system would work. To then loan him to a 3rd party is a nonsense?

The system should stay as it is and for instance Cas should have players who they then dual contract with say Featherstone. Then when such an occurance happens they call players back from that club.

Yes, its good for Cas to call on a player of this quality, but surely not for Ainscough, not for Widnes and certainly not for the system.

they probably should release the players they cant afford to keep.

though its fairly obvious most young players on the dual contract system are loaned out to aid their development rather than save some money
