Been on loan at York, scored 8 tries in 12 games, strong runner but at 19 almost 20 I'm not too sure he's SL ready, may need another year on loan in Championship, saying all that, due to his age he will come with the U21 standard fee and I had heard he was lined up for York next season.

I think he struggles with dealing with egos/high profile players.

I think he would be good for us on a 3 year cycle with Mash hopefully being retained as one of his assistants.

There’s no doubt his time at Cas tailed off and his spell at Warrington was nothing short of a disaster. So he’ll be coming to us with plenty to prove which could be a good thing. Thats if he still has the hunger and he’s not just he’s a busted flush these days! Either way he can’t be any worse than Applegarth. No doubt he’ll want to bring his usual entourage with him so i guess Sean Longs stay will be a short one.

Go and talk to Cas and Warrington fans and you’ll find the exact opposite is true. He nearly always favours experienced players over giving younger ones a chance, it was a major frustration for both of his previous clubs.

Different brief from the board perhaps, eitherway we seem to develop players them lose them just as they start to show promise, or it certainley seems like that has happened over the past few years. I thought Applegarth would be strong on playing our younger players but only seemed to do this when he didn't have another option.

But also, I wonder where the naysayers are on this one. Why is it such a travesty that Carter didn't interview anyone for Applegarth's appointment (even though he'd only done it a year earlier with Poching) but it's OK to just give the job to Powell?
Double standards me thinks.

Powell proven at championship level and super league. Applegarth neither. Was a huge gamble with an already poor squad. And probably cheap option

If the club do appoint Powell I'm not sure he will be. In a position to bring his asst with him.
We already have an asst that's on a 2 year contract and only arrived 2 months ago.
I always thought the appointment of an asst so far in to the season strange, particularly with Gale already showing his hand about coaching.

Why retain Applegarth, what have you seen & heard that suggests he’s at the level required?
Surely we should be hoping that the Coaching staff are of a top tier standard and can all contribute to a sharp, dangerous and effective team.
