I see the holier than thou, moral crusade briggade have found another excuse to remind a load of strangers on the internet about what good people they are compared to the rest of the pond life.....
Drunken person gets into a row and uses some unpleasant words... shock horror... why anyone other than a Hull FC fan (who could be miffed their players are our getring smashed in season - though it is the norm in super league) gives a flying fark is beyond me.
Its a nothing event - some of the responses have been pathetic.

My opinion is that people only care because Albert Kelly is arguably the best player at a club which is going to be pushing for a top 4 place and challenging for silverware.
Nobody cares about the woman who was offended.
Nobody cares about what "damage" it will do to the sport (let's face it, it will do nothing)
Nobody cares about whether it damages Hull FCs name (as this should only be a concern to Hull fans)
The only reason people are making a huge fuss is because they want one of the league's best players to be banned, weakening Hull FC. And the only reason Rovers fans are putting so much time into it is because 1) it's Albert Kelly, and 2) as a points scoring agenda against Hull FC and their fans, 3) deflecting a bit of attention from one of their players who has failed a drugs test.

Only my opinion, of course.

Agree with much of this. From my perspective, if it had been a less polarising and high profile Hull player, without his history at Rovers and ‘rub their nose in it’ cult status at Hull, the comedy of this drunkeness and lack of professionalism would have been much less. As would the volume of my criticism of the verbal abuse, if not the scale - this as well in part because, knowing it was going to be more low key, I think there’d have been slightly more readiness to more strongly condemn (the ‘i don’t condone’ thing is very obvious when it’s somebody else, but I assume I do it too) from Hull fans.

I think the HDM’s lack of coverage, and Hull FC’s lack of a public statement were surprising and probably have increased the heat a little. However, thinking about it again, it is very difficult to apologise and acknowledge fault nowadays because those statements have become so stereotyped - I was pre-emptively taking the pee early in this thread.

Hull and Albert Kelly are just the "flavour" of the week. I find that each club takes it in turns being in the spotlight here. Leeds next!

Seems Mr Smailes has no editorial decision to make in being quick in the draw to report a misdeanor by a Castleford player.Hmmm.

Or possibly that Smailes/Hull Daily Mail were actually being professional and not just cheap hacks. They will have needed to verify the info & get approval regarding the Kelly situation with it being something brought up on social media and didnt get the socks out and work themselves into a frenzy like some have on this matter. Where as the Cas player is involved in helping the Police therefore much easier and quicker to verify the information as genuine etc.

Smailes HDM maybe being professional? Even im chuckling at that. Looking at both issues and past stories run it's not consistent journalism which is what Mascord was getting at..

You'll notice its actually the HKR reporter for the HDM that has done the article on this and it was put online after Cas had issued their statement so totally different situtation.

Running the Cas story smacks of a journalist who has forgotten the meaning of his post. On an aside if you read my earlier comments when this first cropped up I wasn't overly offended by what he did personally but I am very surprised in current climate his sexist rant hadn't attracted more condemnation?

Seems to have gone into turbo mode now but I have him on ignore so only see quotes. I think local papers are in a difficult position in fairness - they're reliant on the clubs for stories, but in the modern era clubs are much less reliant on the papers for publicity, with their own websites and social media presence. There are a few cases in football of local papers being banned from clubs, where the two have not seen eye-to-eye. Obviously the Yorkshire Post, (national) Daily Mail and Aussie press don't have to worry about Hull FC's attitude to them so much.

Approval might not quite be the right word, but the HDM will be keen to maintain both a good working relationship [iand[/i their independence - which will be a tricky balance. While they've reported Rovers stuff more fully in the past, we don't know the extent to which Rovers 'approved' that approach. There may well be stories about Rovers players that they took the editorial decision not to cover as well - and in the absence of something like a video flying around on social media, we never knew.

The slightly strange thing with this is that everybody who cared knew, so there couldn't be a meaningful cover up, only the appearance of an incompetent attempt at one. Rather than verifying the details, they could have just written a brief story with caveats, and a 'we've approached Hull FC for comment'. While Smailes' RL orientation isn't in any doubt, the simplest explanation is probably that they struggled to get their ducks in a row with the club over a weekend and made a bit of a bum of it as a result.

A moderator breaching the A.U.P . ...

Albert Kelly verbally abuses a young lady , calls her a slut and a whore . Then threatens to “put her on the concrete “.

He then threatens her male friend with violence .

The club make no statement on the matter . No remorse is shown by Kelly or Hull FC .

The Hull FC fans show support for Kelly , more bizarrely the female fans and even a moderator .

That sums up the morals of the 20 year old club and their fickle fans .
