The 'roos side of the last couple of years is the worst I can recall - at least since the late '70s. I said it last time they were here and I was going to put it on the post England v Oz thread.

Not even close, the kangaroos around the turn of the millennium were far inferior to this one. The 1999 tri nations side contained players like Nik Kosef, Mick Vella, Craig gower at 9, players like Bryan fletcher, Shaun Timmons, Darren Smith, Ryan Girdler wouldn't get in this side. In the 01 and 03 tours players like villasanti, heggarty, Ricketson, Phil Bailey, Simpson, sing, Carlaw, blacklock, Kennedy, Meyers. None of those would get in this Oz squad in my opinion.

I don't think anyone cares to be honest. I certainly have no interest in what that p***k has to say or write.

But the Green Machine used to still function then as I recall. It doesn't anymore or only sporadically.

Don't forget, can see highlights from the tournament every Sunday after Match of the Day 2 on bbc1.

The Guardian match report for the Kiwi v Samoa game is hilarious from the point of view that New Zealand are constantly referred to as the ALL BLACKS.

John Wilkin was just on 5 live doing his bit on the Monday sports round up. He had to comment on some footy as well ,but he seemed to give his little bit. I could not listen to the whole thing, but it meant that the World Cup could not be ignored having a RL player on the panel reviewing the weekend's sport.

I would not say it's scathing, it's just calling it what it was. Having just heard Voss on the commentary on Premier, my god he's good.

I think the mail reporter has had a pretty good dig at the bbc there and good on him for that.
Listening to people,it sounds like they didn't give the opening ceremony much coverage at all

In fairness even if the BBC coverage was perfect the DM would have a pop at them. They always bag the BBC.

The SBW slip up over the dead ball line made most news shows over here......as did the massive 1st half by the Kiwis and the 15 minute nightmare that let Samoa back into the game.
Have to agree with others on here, the Premier TV Commentary team are spot on.....we're getting it on SKY NZ for the games not featuring NZ.
