| His original contract was 4 years I believe.
That could have been Matt Kings though i'm not sure.
If you're paying someone with a big rep big money, might as well tie them down to a nice contract. They've both been pretty gash though, King hopefully has put some size on in the off season.
When you guys were in Leeds last year for the WCC Hicks and Monas went to see them and your boys were suprised at how much muscle mass they'd lost.
We have a (wait for it) Rugby Union conditioner in this year who's apparantly put some size on all the players for the new season, like I said, going to be an interesting one

I remember seeing him at the SFS,during the finals series in 2008.And I asked hows the North of England mate? His reply was excellent!I said are you ever thinking about returning back to the eagles?his reply was highly unlikely,I'm enjoying my stint with Warrington!
About losing muscle,he looked quite built back then. What type of traning do they do to lose so much muscle like that?
As for this conditioner bloke is he on a permanent basis with them?what's Warrington paying more then union would?

| There's no salary cap on what you pay your staff is there and he'll be there a few years. It helps that they've just moved to a new elite training facility (about 3 minutes from my house actually).
Monas was unhappy and you could see it in his performances. The second half of last year both players seemed to be more settled, I believe they've moved from their original location. Ive a feeling both live in Manchester now.
Rugby League is such a high octane sport you can easily lose muscle mass as there's no fat to burn through with such intense cardio unlike Rugby Union where they just build and build power 'mass' whether it be muscle or fat it would seem.
It's such a delicate balance in League between power to weight ratio because you've got to be super fit and sometimes in Rugby League I think players sacrifice size and power for mobility. The off season in England is very short and this often doesn't help.
Matt King in his first year especially just didn't get over the advantage line that he did so well at melbourne, little half breaks wouldnt turn to line breaks and so on. If he worked on explosive power (pace) off the line he'd have scored a hatful more last year I reckon and i've seen a video to suggest they're doing that this year.
Lastly Manly are known to be leaders in Sports Science over there, it would make sense that once on UK programs they maybe, well, aren't as good as the Manly one

| Manly are renowned for many things, especially pinching of players from other clubs.Which gave them the tag of being the most hated club in this country.Even though it has eased off abit. But doesn't stop people still bagging us!
That's why we're one of the most successful clubs of all time!

Not being antagonistic, but are they? Really? Or do you mean they'll try something stuff from other sports that haven't been tried by other NRL clubs yet? Like the calves blood thing.

| Well they were much smaller than in the the NRL days.
I read it somewhere that Manly were a leader in the sport through some university's website. I can't remember who tbh but they had some interesting theorys on there I hadn't seen elsewhere.
Im sure it has been mentioned in NRL coverage too, Hasler is a huge fan of sports science.
The blood thing was a little far

| Manly are talking about playing a "home" game elsewhere if Brookvale isn't ready. Anyone see the irony in the stadium not being ready? And then play at North Sydney Oval, potentially playing at a venue deemed unfit for the NRL by the NRL themselves?

Come on I thought Mr NRL woud have known they're having stuff done. $2m estimated worth of works. etc. etc. Already all their first months games have been scheduled away from home.
There'd be a certain irony if their stadium wasn't ready. Any Norths fans would understand that comment.
Renovations to the old ground include:
*Revamping the existing Jane Try Stand change rooms, including improved security access points for players and staff;
*Upgrades to seating in the Jane Try and Ken Arthurson Stands;
*Refurbishment to the lounge Area of the Ken Arthurson Stand mid-level, and construction of new corporate boxes to the Ken Arthurson Stand upper-level.
The works are funded by a joint council-state government grant.

| The NRL has 3 FTA games a week with one of those being shown late into NSW and QLD each Friday night. These same games are shown after midnight in the other states (outside of ACT/NT which are regional anyway).
The Fumbleball has National coverage in all states and territories, in NSW alone I can watch Friday, Saturday afternoon, Saturday Night, Saturday late night and Sunday Afternoon Fumbleball on FTA TV.
Yet here we have so called RL fans putting the boot into RL because it has the audacity to say it has more people watching nation wide than the Fumbleball because we add U20's and SOO with internationals
As Dally said, the regionals have not been added, 1 game out of those 3 FTA RL games easily gets over half a million more people, that's adds up to quite a bit over a 32 round RL year doesn't it, yet they were not counted.
Some smart goes, so why does the AFL get more money?
1. Well Packer tried to shaft ch7 and 10, thus the AFL got more money.
2. The NRL is half owned by News limited, they deal with themselves and why would they give what they have to if it meant the investors didn't make as big a profit?
3. Ch9 also owns 25% of Foxtel (Newslimited's Foxsports) after the SL war, so RL no only is getting screwed by News, it's getting doubly screwed by ch9.
The AFL has none of this, and when RL does finally get rid of the people ruining our game, you can be sure it will get back to where it was in 1995, sitting high above laughing at the AFL.
Now the crowds, RL is strongest in the bush, if RL was condensed like Victoria with a central Stadium and all the trimming that it has with transport, I'd say RL's average crowd would be somewhere between 25/ 30,000.
A Lot of you people just can't comprehend how farking big Australia really is.
And as for Perth, I'm sick of hearing about how bad done by they were, yes they were and I'd like them back, but those idiots made their own bed (SL back stabbers), so they can damn well lie in it for a while longer whilst the NRL is dissolved and a new IC is put in place.
