The rumour going around at the time,according to Paul Sculthorpe in his book,was that Saints signed the wrong one.They had meant to sign Matt but somehow ended up with Phil by mistake.

No where near as bad as Seu Seu. Lee was good in attack but horendous in defence. Neirynx(sp) and Greg Clarke probably give Seu Seu a run for his money though.

aye - that was the rumour at the time. Eric Hughes was told to sign Adamson from Penrith, so he went and signed Phil.

This was later confirmed by Sculthorpe in his book.

I'm dubious. Besides, Phil would've been a decent player for Saints, but was victim to Hanley marking his terretory by ignoring Hughes signing and leaving to fester in the reserves.

he was fairly gash in the few games he had - although to be fair, foreign players dont normally settle in immediately, so he probably deserved to be given more of a chance.

It is one of those rumours that is too good not to believe.

He had two freindlies and then 3 competetive games, one of which was against hunslet in the cup.

Hardly a fair crack of the whip for a guy who'd probably come on a decent wage.

Big guy who looked like he had a decent offloading game and had acheived a very respectable NRL career.

I went to a few reserve games that season and I tell thee, if a young prop had played as well as he had and didn't get a crack at first team, it'd be labelled a disgrace. Expecially as the atrocious Paul Davidson managed 23 appearences that season, most of which were at prop iirc.

Like you say though, it is one of those rumours that is too good not to believe!

Lee Finnerty was a very good player, and should no way be compared to SeuSeu. Dayne Neirinckx was horrendous!

Finnerty gave his all and in attack he was quite dangerous, mind you he was dangerous in defence when he clotheslined Willie Poching.

Seuseu was a massive bloke but ran with the force of a 2 year old and looked like he couldn't be @rsed most of the time. Somehow managed to score a try!

Played a friendly for us in 2003 scoring a try but then left because he was 'homesick'



Speaking of one friendly wonders. Marcus St Hilaire played 40 minutes for us before Bradford poached him.

Unfortunatley he did, personally i would have prefered big bird.

Luke Davico at Wigan, Did he ever play a game?

King Wal at Wakey for those who can remember back to 1983-84.

Paul Loughlin, Huddersfield. He technically played for us, though 'turned up' would probably be more accurate.

Nigel Wright. Once or twice.

Wally played 12 games some of them stunners so maybe not in this category?
