As for blowing away Wakey, well Hudds did that and they got turned over by Salford today
Wigan should be very happy with the first third to the season but there is a long way to go and there are some great teams in this competition who could beat Wigan on any given day (one of them is even outside of the top eight)'" The only reason saints scored was cause we was down to 12 men they didn't even look like scoring and the ammount of possesion they had in the second half really showed how far we have come as a team
There is imo a big diffrence between us and hudd they are a very good side dont get me wrong but there consistency is stopping them from being a real threat league position wise

HA get real!
Leeds are a match for wigan. All things being equal. I daresay with more players and a bit of form leeds could have beaten wigan a few weeks ago.
Certainly if roles were reversed and an injury ravaged, our of form wigan went to headingly against an on form leeds, there would have been quite abit more than 20 points in the final scoreline.

OK.
So by your reckoning, wigan are well ahead.
So, when it comes to the playoffs, wigan will beat everyone easily and walk to the title, huh?
But it never works out that way.
Warrington saints wigan and leeds are all very evenly matched when it comes to the playoffs and the games will be tremendously tough.
being apparently ''well ahead'' of everyone after 10 games will count for sweet f*ck all whne it comes to those big games in october and september. If leeds can get into the top 4 i'd back them. Call me bias but i reckon a fair few neutrals would too.

Do you win the title for coming top?
It was said wigan were well ahead, saddened disagreed and you mocked him.
So wigan already have the title wrapped up huh?
Or was saddened right, and they aren't well ahead of everyone.

Your tries were hardly wonderful efforts either. A flukey opening try and a barge over (similar to ours).

Get a grip.
Saints didn't look like scoring? How many times were they held up over the line?
It was only tremendous last ditch defence which stopped them.
Taking into account your lucky try, on another day saints could have won that game with something to spare.
Keep deluding yourself you're ''well ahead'' you'll just be in for a shock come the playoffs. A few leeds fans were in 2004.

| That's IF you get in the playoffs
You have to play Stains (Twice), Wire (Twice) and Wigan again yet.
Very lucky today, nearly let it slip against a team of also rans again.

I would'nt rule Leeds out just yet, they are more than capable of going on an unbeaten streak as they have done before.

Of course they can. But lets not pander to this "Leeds will still win it" spiel, just because they are Leeds.

Well, thats opportunity right there in those games to peg back teams above us.
Lucky? f*ck off.
2 of catalans tries were dubious, sinfield brain fart, kirke was tackled before he could even attempt to ground the ball for his no try it was a decent win to hopefully get us back into the groove.
But i'm not suprised.
[ievery single time[/i leeds win they are lucky, or the opposition was awful, or the ref gave them the game.

No ones saying they [iwill[/i win it.
But a few people [ifancy[/i that they might win it. Myself included, and i reckon alot of people have a sneaking suspiscion that they'll ''come good'' or have a big part to play in the playoffs, despite the poor start.
They are tried and tested when it comes to the playoffs and have the metal as well as the strike players to get the business done.
It's going to be one hell of a battle in the playoffs, theres going to be some hum dingers. It will be awesome. So many good teams.

It isnt just because they are Leeds. Its because they are clearly (to anyone but a complete idiot) better than they are playing right now. Only the extremely foolish would ignore the last five years performances for the last 9 games. Leeds will improve, they will be better and it isnt a huge leap of logic that they can still win the competition. They have earned the right to still be considered a challenger because of what they have done. Its a big ask but they certainly have the quality to do it.
Besides, Wigan arent hugely better than they were last year. They have been a very good team for a few years and were always the next ones to challenge. They have beaten Leeds plenty of times and very nearly got to the big night for the last few years. Some of their fans complained they didnt start very well under Noble, but they finished better than all except for Leeds and Sts. Its certainly possible that this team which is fairly the same will finish as poorly as Nobles teams started

| On the Pie forum they are (Amongst name dropping me a lot) discussing how this is the 4th time in Super League that they have won 9 of their first 10 games. Interesting when you consider how many Super League titles they have managed to win.

| Not sure what other fans have been sniffing, I've not seen any posts regarding Wigan to get to the Grand Final. We are however giving ourselves an excellent chance with our current form of giving ourselves a good chance of getting there. As usual other teams fans can't help make up their own myths about what apparently gets said on the Wigan board.

| That's a fair way to look at it.
You don't half get some muppets thinking that there's a SL trophy in their Easter Egg.
On another note, is there that great a difference between first and second? Could possibly be this year with Leeds likely to be scraping around the lower playoff places.

After the last 5-6 seasons it's just great to have something positive going on. We've been slowly bubbling for a while, IL was the catalyst, Madge has been the spark. When we play as he wants us to we score tries for fun, dominate in defence and take control. To the credit of other teams, most of them are strong enough to turn us around at least for periods and give us a go - Saints gave it their best - but Madge has got our defence and team spirit firing. The talk from the players is of a new level of team spirit and passion.
I also think part of the reason Wiganers are so upbeat is also due to the nature of the squad and all the stuff behind the scenes. We've got a shedload of homegrown lads taking us on and coming through and great club management, and the buzz is great. It's not all about the first team results, though of course those are going well.
The Grand Final would be fantastic. To win it would be unreal. But it's a long season.

| All the usual suspects on here $hit stirring is pathetic.
This thread wasn't started by a Wigan fan, and I haven't seen any say we will be Champions. I can see Wigan fans enjoying our start to the season and defending our form.
There is a massive difference in delight at our start to the season, and believing we will win the GF. For most of us it's one game at a time!

| Wigan fans have every right to be happy - I mean, any team that wins 9 of their first 10 games should be.
Why not be optimistic? If you can't be after that start then when can you be?
[size=85That being said, still think it'll be Leeds v Saints GF again[/size

Disagree - Wigan are hugely better than they were last year and the reason for that is they've installed a far better coach than Noble.

to be honest you stand a good chance from anywhere in the top4.
For example the only difference between finishing 1st and 4th is 1st get their first game at home, both get 2 bites at the cherry, both can make the gf with 2 wins, it's just 4th need to win that first game away from home instead of playing at home as 1st does.

i think your doing Noble and Wigan a disservice. They troubled everyone over the last few years and finished third and got to the final qualifier each of the last few years, there isnt that much improvement they could have.
A good example of this is people on this very thread saying they would be very happy with Maguire achieving only the same or even less than Noble did last year. Its very strange.
