2010 - Warrington beat Leeds. Warrington were above in the table.
2008 - St Helens beat Hull. St Helens were above in the table
2007 - St Helens beat Catalans. St Helens were above in the table.
2006 - St Helens beat Hudds. St Helens were above in the table.
Only twice out of the last 6 finals has the team lower in the table won. They were Hull who beat Leeds and Warrington who beat Hudds. Hull were becoming a very good side and Warrington were only so low in the table because TS had come too late in the season.
I agree it doesn't always go the way of the top team but that doesn't mean form goes out of the window. Wigan are top of the table, current champions, back at Wembley and are rightly favourites. Leeds will have to play very well to win. Saints threw everything at us and still couldn't beat us.

People say this but we do have other quality players in our team.
Tomkins is our best player by a long way but we have seen world-class plays from other players throughout the season even when Tomkins hasn't been playing.
If they shut Tomkins down then we still have Lockers who can throw that killer pass like he has done time and time again for us, we have Leuluai who can dart through at any moment, Finch who can put in a terrific kick of put Hoffman through a gap, we have Charnley who can go the length of the field, Carmont who can create something out of nothing and Pat who is the current MOS.
Granted we are a better team with Tomkins running riot but we have many more threats than just him.

I agree with this. Wigan will no doubt be bookis favourites but Leeds have the players and the big game experience to win.

Leeds had beaten Warrington twice in the league before that game. Leeds were favourites with the bookies.

| Leeds have the players, Wigan the players and the coach. Therefore it's Wigan for me, QED. [size=50Given my prediction record that probably means Leeds by 60.[/size

I agree mate you do have other class players who can expose teams but he is the main man for Wigan who is all class.

| Can't see where the Leeds threat will really come from. They look slow, predictable and no game plan that is likely to get through the best defence in the league. I know games this season have been close but Wigan will raise their game again for the final and I just can't see Leeds living with Wigan. Only one winner.

Leeds seem to raise their game against Wigan and after the play-off and Challenge Cup games last year there's a fair amount of history which should generate a good atmosphere.
[size=150I think the big Wembley pitch [/sizewill make for great rugby league with the likes of Tomkins, Charnley, BJB and Watkins playing.
EDIT: My actual predicition is, unfortunately, Wigan 18 - 10 Leeds.'"
MYTH!!!!
The pitch at Wembley is the same dimentions as the one at the Galpharm

| Mcdermott will be completly outgunned tactically by maguire.
I can't stress this enough. Maguire will make him look stupid.
And that's before wigans faster, better drilled, more skill players have even steppe onto the pitch.
Only one winner for sure.

| I'm a Wigan fan who will be there and I think we will win easy. 32 - 10 or something like that. Leeds attacks are pretty toothless and I cant see them getting past our defence. There just doesnt seem to be that much structure when Leeds get in the last 20.
If we get more than two scores ahead early on then its game over.

| Re Charnley, I thought his actual effort to beat Wellens after breaking from deep in his own half was pretty poor TBH - he could and should have scored. He's a good player but if he wants to make the step up to the next level he ought to be scoring in that kind of space.
As for the final, I want Leeds to win or at worst lose narrowly. Sadly I can't see that happening.

| I don't think looking at the games we played against Leeds earlier in the season show that much to be honest.
In the first game at Leeds we were a totally different team to what we are now. We had Lockers playing at 6 and an unfit Finch coming of the bench. Despite playing awful we still snatched a draw.
In the game at Wigan we had just had our toughest set of games in the season.
We played Catalans away and got beat, some of our players then had a mid-week game against or for the exiles. We then had a very tough game at Castleford which ended in a draw. We then played Saints away in a massive derby game and then hudds at home in the 'big one 3'. We then had the Leeds game after this very tough run of fixtures and still had a mid-week castleford game to bear in mind.
Before this game we have Salford and Bradford at home and then all of our focues can turn to the Challenge cup final. We will have the same focus we did against warrington in the QF and saints in the SF.
Leeds will have to play outstanding to get near us and they will have to play like the Leeds of old to beat us.

I doubt Castleford would have managed to get into the Wigan half seeing as they only managed to trouble Leeds' defence twice.

| I want to think that, despite their modest league form, the big game experience of the leeds squad may help them step up, but it didn't last year, so I imagine they're in for a hard time.
They have troubled Wigan more than most this year though.

even when wigan were on their great run of cup wins in the 80s and 90s they didnt really hammer teams in the final,
so although i think they'll win it will be closer than that
