Why does it have to be Dobson exactly?

1 - He isn't British
2 - He isn't a St Helens player
3 - He isn't good looking enough to be a poster boy for the masses
4 - Having a midget as Man of Steel isn't a good idea

They should give it to Keiron Cunningham, simply to annoy everyone.

IMO Sam Tomkins edges Myler for young player, he's certainly shone in recent performances for Wigan and is a better all round player IMO, not discrediting Myler but I think that the whole will he wont he Warrington fiasco has caused his form to dip a bit.


As far as the main award goes, O'Loughlin could be in with a shout if he'd not got injured as he's been our best player all season IMO. However Chase & Dobson certainly should be up there with James Graham. Would aslo like to mention Randall, if only for him gifting us the game down there early this season.

Chad Randall, James Graham, Jamie Peacock or Leon Pryce for me, Morleys been good along with Galea and O'Loughlin

Morley's influence on Warrington is incredible. We are a completely different team with him off the pitch, as evidenced again at the weekend.
A definite contender.

It should probably be dobson. He has lifted an average side into top 4 and real contenders.
Graham has already surpassed his stats for last year, this year and continues on without any other first choice props to back him up, so must be in with a shout to retain it, its between them 2 for me.

He's a mountian of a man. Easily my favourite player away from my own team.

To be fair to Michael Dobson, he was almost good enough to crack it for a start in a QLD Cup team.

This would be the dobson who made 20 starts in the one season he had in the nrl and played for the australian school boys team or is it a differant one?

Canberra......is like the Castlford of the NRL expect they have fans and a stadium and a rich history and are not a joke....they just are a terrible team.

However, back to the point, he is a failed NRL player, barely even a reserve grader, but the player of the year contender over there.

I agree, if Dobson gets it it'll be embarassing. A player who couldn't even make it in the NRL comes over to here and wins it in his first full season, would make a mockery of it.

He was also part of the reason Wigan were able to turn around their dreadful start in 2006, his addition along with Fielden saved us that year. His kicking in particular was phenomenal.

Even though you couldn't afford either player within the salary cap. Yes … I remember how you outbid us for Dobson, despite not having any legal way to pay him.

For mine it has to be one of:

1. Beaver Menzies
2. Mike Worrincy the Worrloard - if Roby can win it any bench player can!
3. Chris "The Emperor" Nero best centre in SL

OK two of them are antipodeans but they have good pedigree - Menzies was top NRL try scorer for a forward and Neros progress was only retarded by the likes of Gasnier and Cooper being ahead of him at St. George - if those fellas hadn't have been there we migh be talking about Nero in the same breath as the likes of Inglis and Folau

Wouldn't surprise me if they gave it to Bosc, just to up the 'expansion is a great success' theory, especially if Le Cats don't make the play-offs.
