Not ideal for a prop I agree with you both...but not because he wasn't big enough...because he was too big. Like Graham West.

I wish we had more lazy Hall of Fame second rowers like Bob Eccles who could score 37 tries in a season (1982/83) and 5 in a match (1982)

I was there. Can't remember if it was this game but one try sticks out where Robbie Muller did all the work and was clear to race under the sticks...Bob was shadowing him and called to Robbie. Robbie passed him the ball to score under the sticks.

I think Bob benefited that season from that play we did at acting halfback where he could crash over from close range. I think they changed the rules following that.

His pack mates were amazed how Bob could sprint The length of the field in the last minute to score, when they couldn’t put one foot in front of the other.
