It might be a bit misleading, Foxy really are a small player in this industry market of £600 000 000, its Bwin having a turnover of £250 000 000 who are the bigger player. I think Foxy have a turnover over of around £60 million so they won,t have a big enough profit to give the RFL a multi million pound deal.
Perhaps it would have been better for Bwin to be the sponsor, hopefully the RFL will put something out figure wise before the season starts.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think we have many fans who sup champers like fizzy pop, so with the best governing body in the world, we would never get a sponsorship with them, or similar.

Companies don't part with their hard earnt because they think they can promote their brand to a target audience. Rugby league prides itself on being a working class family sport, and so in the main that is going to be the type of brands we work along side. Throwing words like flat cappers and M62 corridor about in disgust won't achieve anything. I for one am proud that RL hasn't abandoned its roots (by and large) unlike soccer for example. £62 for a ticket, but lovely adverts for FTSE companies left right and centre!

65m and 26 m. The figure for Foxy is the latter one.

realistically, who, bar a bingo company, are going to become Super Leagues official Bingo partner? I would be very surprised if was Riotinto or GSK.

Having a bingo partner doesnt preclude SL from having other sponsors.

The more sponsors the game can bring in the better.

Super League is a brand in itself, everyone calls it that. Anyway, I'd refer them to have three minor sponsors, and have full sponsor for the Challenge Cup and if possible the Championships.

Maybe we should go for quantity minors.....Barbour, Tilley, Stetson + Ted Baker they all promote and sell flat caps.

Indeed it is and I imagine that undermines its value to sponsors (although it is clearly a strength in other ways). Comparing RL sponsors with RU ones is a pointless excercise but it is worth noting that he RU Premiership is referred to by default by fans and media with the sponsors name. Super League in general conversation doesn't.

Make no mistake the away drunks that turn up at the Stoop doesn't help nor does the northern "flat cap" perception of the sport.

At the moment the game is what it is. If it wants to move to the next level then it requires a significant re brand.
