| You all forget the "good old days"
This was a friday night match, I think, in wet muddy conditions with Fax playing in all black and Salford in Blue!!!!
Well of course there was a colour clash between Blue and White hoops, and an all Red jumper so there obviously had to be change.
It looked so good on the TV as well!!!
Perhaps one day, the RFL will develop a pair, and state that teams will play in their registered colours and the ONLY time they are allowed to change is if there is an obvious colour clash and the HOME team has to change.
The Cougars will win the World Club Challenge before this piece of common sense is applied though.

| Quote ="Nat (Rugby_Aholic)"Has anyone realised that this wouldn't normally be an issue as the home team always has both sets of kit in the same building as the changing rooms. Normally Huddersfield would change and we wouldn't hear of it.'"
What if the away shirt clashed with both kits of the home team?
It happens.
Which is why the away team is instructed to bring BOTH kits. In this instance, Hudds should probably have had both kits as well.
For those saying this isn't a big deal, they are slightly ignorant of how damaging this is to the profile of the game. Not to mention sponsorship issues from the shirt, etc. This should never happen again. It was utterly embarrassing. It's like a band forgetting their instruments for a concert.

| can i just spoil things a bit for people who are keen to blame the giants,im sure cas fans remember this :
it was agreed in february when cas asked to wear their new away kit to "showcase" it on the first televised game of the weekly rounds, that instead of them wearing their principle kit they wanted to wear their brand new sparkling alternative kit, we agreed and so it was then agreed that on the return fixture cas would wear their principle kit.so either the RFL or castleford or both forgot or chose to ignore this.
no blame whatsoever on huddersfields part.

| Quote ="The Chronicler of Chiswic"Oddly enough, this isn't the first time Huddersfield have been involved in kit problems. Back in October '88, thanks to internal problems at the club, they turned up for a game at Chiswick without any kit at all (happily the players had their boots)! Fortunately there'd been an amateur game before the main match, so we had to hastily swill out one of the teams' kit in the plunge bath and Huddersfield played in rather soggy pale blue shirts. The result? Fulham 61 - Huddersfield 22.'"
in those days we were chuffed to get 13 guys to play never mind worrying about a kit!

| This has happened at least twice at Leigh both South Wales (1990s version) and Keighley turned up with red kits. SW played in Leigh's change kit in the other game both teams refused to change and played in predominantly red kits.

The RFL issue the kit directive, but do take into consideration requests from home teams to wear alternative kits.
However, as the kit directive shows, Huddersfield should clearly have been wearing their home kit for this game, so the fault lies with them.

According to that it says that Huddersfield ALTERNATIVE Castleford PRINCIPAL.

It sure does mate. But you're a day late checking it. Yesterday it was actually the other way around, seriously. The RFL have quickly (not quick enough for some) edited that sheet to suit their story. Last night that sheet read Hudds principal Cas alternative. You can't make it up!

If you read the whole thread more than one poster has pointed out that that has been changed TODAY. This morning it said Hudds Principal Cas Alternative

before you start saying you have seen Lord Lucan riding Shergar and developing other conspiracy theories.
The list with Huddersfield down as ALTERNATIVE kit was sent out to all clubs about 3 weeks ago. The one people linked to yesterday was an old one which had not been updated

| can i re-iterate that WHEN WE PLAYED AT CAS IN FEB,THEY ASKED US TO CHANGE KITS SO THEY COULD "SHOWCASE" THEIR NEW ALTERNATIVE KIT, WE AGREED ON THE PREMISE THAT WE REVERSE THE KITS IN THE RETURN FIXTURE,THAT RETURN FIXTURE WAS YESTERDAY,CAS BROUGHT THEIR ALTERNATIVE KIT WHICH WAS NOT WHAT THE CLUBS AGREED ON.
obviously something has gone wrong with the communications somewhere.

Can't happen. The RFL approve all kits and they don't allow any one kit to be the same as both of another teams kit. Although I am sure if Crusaders turned up in bondage gear the RFL would let them play the game. (at first I said "the RFL wouldn't punish them" then I realised how that read)

Ya don't say!
Why are so many people blowing steam about this tho? The whole thing was funny as f***, and I felt somehow privileged to have witnessed it live on telly. Yes somebody's ballsed up royally, but these things happen.
Having said that, for a comp currently without a major sponsor, and a track record of struggling to attract a major sponsor, it was a PR disaster. I mean, how can you pitch your product as 1st class professional sport when you've got this sort of thing going down?!
