No...not at all. It's good to have a hobby and even 12,000 miles can't dim my desire to see a successful, well supported and financially viable London Club. Didn't you stay for a beer after the game...or have you bought a mansion in Twickenham . 3,600 for the visit of the NRL champions in a city with an estimated Anzac population of 250,000 at any given time is a f&cking disgrace...I challenge you or the club to prove it otherwise.
Crusaders are showing what can be done with a bit of effort.

That comment GF just about sums you up. Do you remember the very first game ever played by a French game in SL? What was the crowd-I will help you out Paris played
You sit there chipping away at Quins- you lived 400 metres from Griffin park and 5 miles from The Stoop whilst at no time owning a season ticket and never travelling to away games, including to Crusaders of which you laid a bus on.
Leave Quins out of it you are the past.
Ps I did stay for a beer -it was packed in the bar with some Kiwi strumming his guitar

Have no interest in the PSG gate (which was a sell out IIRC).....They failed, something that it looks like Quins RL are TRYING TO DO!

Nope, never owned a ST...and often or not, managed to wrangle free tickets, either as a corporate guest or from a mate who wasn't using his ST. Made no secret of it....and more than spent the money saved on merchandise/beer/food /Beer.
I actually did go to Crusaders.....Wakey was the one I missed due to a work commitment. Sorry......but glad the bus went anyway...as PP will tell you, they aren't easy to organise and FILL!
BTW...I still own the property in Brentford and it's 150 yards away from GP.

I have told you before, if cold hard facts about attendance figures and lack of promotion displease you, avoid my posts. I bow to your superior knowledge of the game, its tactics and styles of play, but don't think that a few snide comments about where I now live or what I did or didn't do before does not distract me from the opinion that I have forgotten more about sales and marketing than you could ever hope to learn.

Good job......the same 2,000 people who go every week are the life blood of the club, but it's the 12,000 empty seats that are the problem. HTH

I bang on about the clubs lack of marketing and have done for nearly 10 years and will continue to until they do something about it. Some people find it tiresome and tedious and ignore me, but others tell me to be quiet, be patient and everything will be OK....kind of like.....
Last year was the first time that a London SL team didn't manage 1 gate over 5k.......there is something very wrong with that statistic. Yes, we have a great bunch of young cockneys coming through, but unless the club get people to come to games these kids may well end up playing for Londons premiere RL club......The London Skolars.

| Considering Richard Lewis' media intervention last week on behalf of Harlequins i'm amazed that the RFL don't help out on the marketing front. Maybe there's mileage in searching for a sponsor that specializes in marketing? Free marketing push in exchange for full shirt sponsorship. It would be in their interest to push hard.

METRO were a Broncos shirt sponsor but the club managed to f&ck that up. WIN are in the electronic messaging business, but without data, they aren't going to be able to help.
Contra deals are of no interest to media companies......Quins have to SPEND SOME MONEY, but this will not happen while the purse strings are held as tightly as they are at present. Regardless of the resoning behind it, the club have an aversion to speculating......the last time they did it was in 2005 when they did a £10 a ticket with 6 free VB's....got a gate of 6,500 at Griffin Park......since then, nothing.
I would open the gates for FREE when Salford come down next month......the average gate is only 2,600 odd, so it wouldn't cost the club millions would it?
BTW....Richard Lewis said he believed that Quins DESERVED better crowds. WTF? That's the attitude that has seen the club struggle to get gates......nobody deserves to get good crowds. Hull FC have to work very hard to get the gates they do, so why should Quins just expect people to roll up

| I appreciate what you're saying gutterfax but I think it would be very difficult even for the best marketing department to market the 'Harlequins RL' brand. IMO it's a lost cause. I'm praying that a millionaire will decide to start a new club in London with its own identity that can attach itself to a community in the same way that Crusaders have. In three months they've achieved better results than Harlequins or whatever have in the past 20 years.

Cracking effort (again) by the FC marketing department.
The did something similar last year when they were concerned about dipping below 5 figures and as a result got their 2nd highest gate at the end of what was a pretty 5hitty season for them. Wigan sold a whole stand (or most of it anyway) to Heinz last year for the visit of Quins RL.......resulting in the 3rd biggest gate of the year after Saints and Leeds.
Instead of moaning about how Quins/Catalan/Crusaders bring no fans, clubs like these get their fingers out and try to attract fans who may well enjoy the experience and come back as paying customers.

In Australia, the NRL gave away 165,000 free NRL passes to players and officials in the juniors for the 2009 season. It was reputed to cost them $20m. The pass means you can get free entry into every single NRL game.
Attendances didn't go up by that much though.

builds brand loyalty
kids dont normally go to games on their own
so if you give a kid a free pass, he will take at least one paying person along
NRL attendances last year where very close to the all time record high in an environment of global eco. crisis

This is the bit I don't understand. Yes, if an extra 3,000 turn up then stewarding costs will increase, but if the $20,000,000 is in lost revenue due to these tickets not being sold it isn't really a loss is it. You can't lose what you don't have.......I suspect that good accountancy practices are involved here.....with the "losses" being tax deductable
