True, but the BEST coaches, whom we seem NOT to learn from and IMPROVE upon are still in Australia
We just get the residue.

| At Wigan they tell us he is one of the most skillful players there are.
Apparently he is also the 2nd fastest, behind Roberts I'd imagine.
So what happens between training and playing is what the new coaching team have to develop.
All at Wigan appear to still believe he is a real talent, developing it is without doubt the problem.

That's the point of the post. I think you need to look up the word potential in the dictionary... if he had reached his potential he would have been simply superb

Was it London that he destroyed when he was 17/18?

He is still bigger that any other back in World Rugby though... hence the frustration
I agree 100% with the agression point and that is the whole problem with him

| I remember he played at Headingley for Bulls and was class. Scored a hat trick i believe, and was the best back on display. I think we still lost but a lot of bulls fans after that thought he might actually realise his obvious potential.
I think it's been noted that he's always been seen as a bit of a bottler despite his size.

| Quote ="Dunbar"Watching the game yesterday, I couldn't help but think back to a game (circa 2003/4) I watched when England under 17 Academy played the Australian Institute of Sport
The two dominant players on the pitch for England were James Graham and Karl Pryce - the latter who demolished the Aussies, was men against boys
While Graham has gone on to be a respected international prop, Pryce, for various reasons, has gone into obscurity
Karl Pryce is as gig if not bigger than Inglis and not too far off in pace... I wish he had lived up to his promise and England had the most dominant outside back in the world!'"
One epic difference between James & Karl...
Karl spent time playing Union. Ruined him it did.

I wouldnt have thought that Leon's attitude is much better to be honest. Leon has only slightly more heart and always goes missing in tight games or when the going gets tough and only wants to know against weak teams who are on the back foot, hence why he wasnt picked for England.

I've seen most of his games for Wigan a t both first team and reserve level.
He was top try scorer in reserve rugby in 2009 (all teams) despite playing in only two thirds of the games.
He is the third fastest player at Wigan, and certainly is a very skilfull player.
However, his confidence is shot. He has had major problems with that injury and every time he makes a run then you will see him start to do his stretching exercise shortly afterwards.
I was speaking to someone who plays alongside Pryce in the reserve side, and they reckoned that if Pryce can get a really good hard pre-season training in and come through it then he could be real danger in Superleague.
That is what all Wigan fans will be hoping for under McGuire.

| Quote ="Hull-Neutral"Around the time of Pryce's exploits for the GB Academy, I remember quizzing Steve Mcnamara about just how good he could be.
His reply was, "Mate, it all depends on his attitude. There will be no in between with Karl - he will either develop into one of the world's best or he will slip into oblivion."
Sad!'"
Sad, but I`d say correct. Having seen Karl destroy teams in the academy and then just fade away is very disappointing. It really is what`s in his head though, and when the advantage of being a big lad in juniors faded away, other than a short early burst at the Bulls, he just never looked the same player.
I`ve always thought that of the two brothers Leon got all the aggression and Karl was just soooo laid back it was untrue. If Karl had got half of leon`s aggression and devil and Leon had got half of Karl`s apparent inner calm and peace then GB/England would have been blessed with two incredible players.

Really?
Thought Roberts, Pat, Sam and Ainscough at least would be quicker than him.
Be nice of him to prove it in a game though

| Karl Pryce could have been a monster. He's got all the skills. He's big, powerful, fast and has a great pair of hands and can off load. However he lacks 2 things desire and commitment. He's happy enough to get by on the bare minimum.
I did hope the switch to union might toughen him up but that never came to pass

Standing around in the cold, chasing the odd kick was going to toughen him up?
Never mind never came to pass, more like never got a pass.

| The major problem with SL is that unlike the NRL it cannot call upon the athletic talent of the entire nation. We're always scrabbling around in the dregs, failures and offshoots that are left in the barrel after football's taken its pick.
Guys like Hayne and Inglis are physical freaks, for sure. But English football is littered with such right down to Div 2 (and beyond). If we could take just a sixth of that athletic pool we'd be unstoppable.
