| Quote ="loiner81"So that's why we didn't have the usual attendances thread at the end of the regular rounds. Crowds were up.
Classic RLFANS.'"
Point of order.
William Eve has decided not to bother with posting his figures because other forums decided to publish them (mistakes and all) in their magazine. I posted these attendances because someone asked for them.....but now you've asked:
SL regular season attendances were down.....and the extra 10 games we've had to date have delivered around 75,000 attendees, so the seasons average has fallen even further when compared to 2014. Getting the same fans to attend more games is not a viable or sustainable business strategy....it is papering over the cracks.
I know this is hard for you to comprehend, but what we've had this year is the same fans attending more games, a drop in TV viewing figures and now what looks like a return to the heavy investment in purchased talent to gain promotion at the neglect and expense of club business and player development?
I'll get around to checking them all eventually, but St Helens had fewer fans at their 15 home games in 2015 than they did in 2014 and in the championship, Bradford Bulls were responsible for 33% of that ENTIRE divisions attendances....if they go up this weekend then the Championship averages will be decimated!

| Ive been logging the attendances all year of all 3 top divisions and in my mind the one that is the most important is the total average, which, including super 8s, was pretty much bang on 10,000 I think it was 9,997 if I worked it out right. This is significantly higher than last year which was about 1,000 less than that.
When you think as well that we had 24,000 at wigan/saints, 20,000 at hull derby, 40,000 at magic weekend and all the great Leigh and Bradford turnouts in championship, plus that 4,000 at Keighley than I think there should be optimism in the RL family this year.
This is all assuming the figures i got were correct of course =)

1. You've taken the top 8's season and compared it to the 14 team SL last year? Why not just compare it to a fish tank....it'd be as relevant!
2. So neither Wigan Saints or the Hull Derby sold out....and we didn't get the targeted 10 sell outs this year either.
3. Bradford were responsible for 33% of the entire championship crowds.....that's not good. Leigh 21%....not ideal either.
I'm all for massaging figures to suit, but the reality is like for like the regular SL season was down 1% on 2014 and the 11 extra games so far have brought in 80,000 fans...same fans mind you, not new ones.
1. 2015 Regular SL season average 8,920. This is against 9,006 for the corresponding 22 H/A fixtures in 2014....1% DOWN.
2. 2015 Super 8 fixtures average 9,896 which is 8% DOWN against regular season comparable fixtures
3. 2015 Middle 8 SL team attendances 14% DOWN against Regular season Attendances
4. 2015 Bottom 8 attendances 15% DOWN against regular season comparable fixtures
5. 2015 Middle 8 Champ teams attendances UP 18% against regular season attendances but 6% DOWN against comparable games v championship sides.
All the new system does is remove lower attended teams from SL, dropping them into higher level Champ teams and increases that average....whilst like for like attendances in comparable games are down across the board. It's a clever trick, but ultimately all they've done is get 80,000 of our existing fans to attend an extra game or two of the 12 new fixtures.

I have been in the RL family ever since I was born lol however, unlike some people I aren't predicting the death of a sport when 86 less people on average turn out for the regular season, like changing man here is having anxiety attacks over. 86 people? 1% down on last year, its 1%, who cares really?!
You know at KC last game of season they did a memorial to all the fans who had died that year, only ones that family members had submitted to appear mind you, and there was like 20 people on that, suddenly we are reducing that 86, may those great fans rest in peace.
While we are on hull I wanna point out that the hull derby this year was the highest attended in 6 years I think. There has never been a sold out derby with the highest attended being 23,000. I would also guess that given stadium sizes, that wigan-saints attendance could be the highest in the super league era. Why don't people pick out the bits of positivity every so often, or at least give them a little mention, buck up peoples spirits and all that, I'm punching the air as I say this haha
You know, I met a guy a few months back who runs a bookshop in Colwyn Bay (or rhos on sea I forget exactly where I was seen as they are attached) who was a Widnes fan and you know what? He was into being positive about the sport as well. Now I know he comes on here so shout out to the north wales Widnes fan! I'm getting through those books I bought off you, stay positive my man!!

What has the NRL got against suburban grounds? They seem intent on clubs playing in massive stadiums that have a capacity 5 times bigger than attendances.
Suburban grounds seem fit for purpose for all clubs (except Brisbane who have the suncorp) and create a better atmosphere and sense of occasion.

| Here's a clue re suburban grounds.
1. Look at the attendance table
2. Consider the 5 lowest drawing Sydney teams
3. Consider what sort of grounds these teams play in
Bingo!

| Allianz Stadium at 45000 is over double the size Souths or the Roosters need, but that's not too bad. ANZ at over 80000 is ridiculous. Stadiums that are less than half full, or even less than a quarter full suck the atmosphere out, they don't add to the match day experience for fans and come across as non events on TV.
