I think so.
I'm sure I've seen that Wigan Athletic related link before.
Although I can't see it ever happening, it would be interesting to know what would happen to Wigan if it did. Both Leigh and Widnes would struggle to contain our season ticket holders let alone away support.
I'd love for a new stadium personally, but that will never happen either.

| Its totally a non-story anyway, the PL, no matter what they think, dont make the law and so any ground share clubs in the PL would see the foot ball team leaving or paying exhorbitant sums to buy out and procure the RL team a new home.

Nah, the area is no where near big enough to redevelop nor is the area at our Orrell Edge Hall Road Stadium.
The only place it realistically could go is by Marus Bridge just on the main M6 North bound Wigan junction, but IL has always said it is out of the question down to a number of reasons.

| Clearly the Premier league arent aware of the economic climate, single use stadiums are unsustainable these days. Everywhere around the world there are multiple use stadiums and no one complains, except the premier league egos. Councils arent going to help fund and give planing permission for several stadiums just because football demands a sole use stadium. Exactly how many Superleague clubs actually own their own stadium? and I mean outright.
Wigan dont
Hull dont
Salford wont
Huddersfield dont
lower down the leagues Leigh and Widnes dont

Exactly, even if we had to leave it would cost someone a hell of alot of money to get rid, and considering that the stadium was built on the condition that is was for duel use, its pretty much a non starter....

| Don't think Odslum is owned by the Bulls either.
If it is then a lot of local council tax payers will be very unhappy bunnies not just RL folk.

Not sure about Saints but Salford, deffinatley not as its a joint venture between the council and Peel. Highly doubtful Wakey or Cas could afford it outright, likely to be a mix between council, private company and themselves. Do Warrington fully own the ground? As many new stadiums are joint ventures between council, private company and the club themselves.

I don't think Wire own their ground - pretty sure I read somewhere Saints would be the only SL club that owns a new-build stadium outright, but I might be wrong (I often am!).

Its a pointless arguement anyway, all these accusations that its the RL that damages the pitch is pathetic. When Everton made a complaint about the pitch, we hadnt even been on it for months. Nobody thought to take into account the location combined with so called poor draining and topped off with the worst winter in years. We even aviod playing at home during may so there is time to sort out the pitch.

I'd agree often they are joint ventures, however often the councils will simply "give" the club their share of the ground or not demand a share in the first place. For instance, and I could be wrong in this, but I was under the impression that for Cas & Wakeys new stadiums the council would provide £2m each without demanding a share of ownership of the ground. Although I can't see the private companies involved doing similar!
Still not sure about Hull KR, can't really find any definitive info about New Craven Park, although to be honest Im not trying that hard!

| The KC is owned by the council, they would have a riot on their hands plus have to find 30million quid to rebuild the Boulevard if they tried to kick FC out. If anything it is City that would have most to lose from this ruling as it would effectively mean they couldn;t be promoted without finding a new stadium to play in.

| Trinity have sold BV and are due to receive the balance upon their departure from the ground. Next season is their last regardless of what happens at the planning meeting due in September. They will not own the new stadium but will be anchor tenants. The Wakefield & District Community Trust will own the stadium.

| Wigan own a ground. Wigan council wouldn't help Whelan with the cost of a new stadium for Latics, but when Whelan bought Wigan RL, they then helped with the cost, around 50%, as it would be used for both sports. What the terms of the contract state, i don't know, but for Whelan to buy Wigans lease out would then give Wigan a healthy sum to start looking elsewhere.
It would be unfair for Latics to be kicked out of the PL because they share with an RL club.

| Catalan Dragons ground is council owned, the new stand is funded by the council and the new build at the other end are municipal swimming baths, according to the landlord at the sauce bar, the mayor of Perpignan is a staunch supporter of the kick and clap brigade and had the swimming baths built so that the dragons could never have a better ground than his team. Maybe a dragons fan would know more.
