And as for the Ref causing all the argo, though he is not responsible for the actions of the crowd, he does have to take some blame. the sheer frustration he caused from his lack of ability to control the game caused the away fans to vent their frustrations at the ref. The catalan fans then were throwing ale into the crowds and laughing. so in essence he does have a part to play.
Straight after the first fight he should have come down hard on any infringement and stamped his authority. but in the following sets after there were high shots, flops, knees in the tackle, wrestling in the ruck and he just let it slide. It's almost as though he thought "Oh, Hicks let the game flow in the semi-final and it made the game better... I think i'm going to do the same" the man is a complete embarressment to the RFL officials and has been for close to 10 years. How he is still employed as a full time Ref is beyond me.'"
I find it incredible the amount of anti-Wire BS being spoken of on here when there was another set of fans, and an ex-player of both clubs, who were all involved.
No “Catalans fans are a disgrace” “Catalans fans are thugs” “rugby league players are a disgrace” “rugby league players are thugs”... no, it’s just “Wire fans are a disgrace” “Wire fans are thugs”.
I messaged my mate who was there within minutes of the incident and he replied with “they were throwing missiles into our away section”. Now, the natural reaction to that would be one of a few things:
1. Go and tell the stewards (happened to Cas fans at Catalans on another occasion and the stewards said they couldn’t do anything about it)
2. Leave
3. React
Humans are a fighting species. Fighting happens a lot, in all walks of life. Some people will always stand up for weaker people than themselves by fighting in retribution, many people will only take so much before they lose their cool and fight, some people even enjoy fighting...
There were Wire fans who did just leave as well.
But this thread tells me all I need to know about a lot of posters on this site: too bitter to consider it might not have been just Wire fans at fault in all this. Or just WUMs, of course. |

Pathetic from the RFL, how on Earth has Chris Hill not been banned? His behaviour throughout the match was nothing short of embarrassing and the constant swearing at Child towards the end was pathetic. He came across like a teenager not getting their own way and he’s got away with it.

If I were you I’d just stop, you’ve shown yourself to be an idiot over this issue. Blaming James Child for the thuggery on display from Warrington fans who clearly couldn’t handle their ale was well out of order and here you are continuing to defend the scum who tried to climb into the hospitality area to brawl with Catalans fans. Whether you like it or not all the videos show Wire fans to be at fault, while the Catalans fans were merely trying to defend themselves from the animals coming at them.
Even if the Catalans fans did play a part when was it acceptable to behave like that? Warrington are a club known for having fans who look for trouble and isn’t it funny how no other clubs fans have ever felt the need to behave in the same manner. Warrington have a massive problem within their fan base and it needs eradicating quickly because once again your club has let the sport down. |

After watching the footage it is clear the Warrington fans are the instigators of this crowd violence . It appears the Catalan supporters are merely trying to defend themselves from the Warrington fans who are climbing into the Catalan Dragons V.I.P boxes merely out of frustration at losing the match . A contributing factor to take into consideration is that the poor indiscipline on the park didn’t help .
Warrington fans do have a reputation for this type of behaviour .

And to be honest it's the same footage that shows it already kicking off and not what started it so theres no proof it's just our fans kicking off for no reason at all.
But that is a disgrace and our fans went WELL over the top, literally, and it's sad to see it's not just the usual turd kids that have appeared over the past 3-4 years and it's Adults aswell. I genuinely can't defend that at all.
But one thing that does annoy me is other clubs supporters making out our fans are all bad louts and we're all the same. Hull cause e at every game they play here, usually outside the ground but still the same behaviour, and Wigan and Cas are the same with a small bunch of bellends But just because ours is caught on film we're the worst of the worst |
