Wells is the best especially with Carney. Intelligent guys.
Barry I like. Tez needs to go.
I liked Clarke but he's a bit too random now.

Silly Barry McDermott and sillier Terence O'Connor, with their terrible northern accents, both need to go, along with Phillip Clarke, who talks gibberish with a northern accent.
I don't like the Irish accent of Brian Carney, but at least he is intelligent, so I can give him a pass on his accent. The same point applies to Yorkshire's Jonathan Wells.
However we need more commentators with national educated BBC accents, like David Wood, if rugby league is to expand its national appeal.

I disagree. However,Stuart Cummings must go. The only ones i would keep would be Hemmings,Carney, and Bill Arthur, the rest need replacing.

That's probably more racist than what Hemmings said.

I agree with dumping Stuart Cummings and retaining Edward Hemmings, Brian Carney, and William Arthur. But I also want the clever Yorkshire man Jonathan Wells retained.
William Arthur could be the commentary replacement for Barry McDermott and Terence O'Connor. If casual viewers heard Edward Hemmings' and William Arthur's articulate and well accented voices describing and analysing the game in progress, these viewers might imagine that the game is as worthy as it really is. Moreover British rugby league might even get some good national sponsors.

I think he's excellent.

Like i said, not as bad as others. To be fair to others though they’re commentating on the game as it happens which is much harder. Having 20/30 mins to look at replays of tries before HT/FT and putting a circle around a defender pointing out he was the one drawn in isn’t that impressive or difficult unless you’re one of those people who didn’t spot why a try was scored in real time or in the 2/3 replays shown immediately after the try was scored.

But that’s what’s needed from a half time/full time piece same as in football. I think he does that perfectly fine. It’s something I think the BBC misses out on, otherwise their coverage is far better.

At times I just wished they'd all just shut up and let the game do the talking, rather than argue the toss over whether a penalty should be awarded after each and every tackle.

No I think it’s just wasting time. Like I said I can tell why tries were scored at the time, if others need it slowed down for them to understand then so be it but doesn’t make it good. Would rather hear opinion of former players and coaches on how the game is going as a whole....just need to get a better collection of guests and vary it so that it’s not repetitive.

| I would get rid of all of them on Sky except from Carney. Wells is a one trick pony, he just highlights a lead runner in a block shape and a defender making the wrong read and biting in, over and over again. There's very little analysis on the contact, defensive shape/structure or kicking and kick returns.
There is no point in talking about the others because they are truly awful, stealing a living and damaging the sport. I just hope that the RFL are getting themselves in position to pitch to other broadcasters, looking at what's going on at Sky, there's a good chance they toss it off when the renewal comes around.

Absolutely spot on and what I was getting at. At first his addition to the Sky team was a breath of fresh air but now it’s just the same thing every game. Just spending the HT break with him pointing out which defender made the wrong read when it was usually bloody obvious at the time isn’t the great insight some make it out to be unless they’re not very good at spotting it themselves. His analysis is like RL for beginners. You tell he was a winger with his basic insight.

Tbh the breakdown he does at H/T has already been done in the replays right after the tries by those commentating, most of the time. He doesn't really add that much more to what they've already said.

| Mostly found Australians given exposure with either BBC or Sky over the last 30 years have been decent. Remember Monie, Sims, Rae, Millward etc... down the years and they all came across well. Better than the Baz and tez rubbish anyway.

Indeed and Andrew Voss on Premier was a true breath of fresh air compared with our lot.
On of the real problems with Sky is that it's the same team every game 3 times a week. It's just too much and even if they were great, they soon become stale and when they're not so good, it's just awful.

| My issue with it is the cacophony of voices, all saying not very much - they talk over each other, go off at tangents, drown out referees addressing players and insist on making a controversy out of every call, often proven to be completely wrong on replay; and the excruciatingly awful "banter" is -clenchingly embarrassing.
I can't understand why they don't freshen it up, trim down the size and scale of the numbers involved, and get some insightful voices actually calling the game, but also knowing when to shut up; it would be cheaper, as well as better.
