On a wider scale let's look at the Aussie squad. People like cherry Evans and Ben barba can't get anywhere near the national side. They just produce much better players.

Brown is an average SL Halfback, Williams in very good and will get better, done more on 10 mins, than Brown did the rest of the match.

Another try for Hall, unfortunately for him he won't break the british record of Mick Sulliven (45) as we dont play enough test games, but he has a better try per game ratio

They have rugby league schools in QLD and NSW. Kids are sent to these schools and are coached RL after lessons every day.

you can't expect a 19year old with 0 SL experience to be better than a 25 year old Aussie with years of NRL and queensland cup experience. Perhaps if we stick with and invest in those 19 year old kids and give them SL experience then by the time they are 25 they will be better than that Aussie. Perhaps if we had the best coaches over here, only picked up the better players from elsewhere, if we gave those kids experience and invested in their nutrition, strength and conditioning, had them training in quality environments instead of portacabins and fitness firsts, perhaps if we didn't accept a percentage of our best would be lost to RU, if our best were playing in SL instead of the NRL, then our best would be the best.

It is not one of the major problems that this game faces that our 19/20 years aren't playing enough low quality, low intensity RL. Which is all our reserves would be.

It is a bigger problem that the team who got relegated didn't bother with bringing through their own youngsters, that the team who beat them in the million pound game wont bother either, and the team which got promoted hasn't bothered for years. It is a problem that over the course of 5 years we have managed to successfully demolish the club which produced 5 of the players we see today

Well why can NZ produce players like Johnson and Marshall, they have less people playing than we do?

We invest in our young players, we invest in our coaches, we invest in our facilities, we do that even if it is at the expense of another small northern club spending on another hundred grand on another queensland cup player, or another 35 year old has been. We force clubs to make the best of what we have and not let them rely on other clubs or other countries or other leagues doing the hard work.

We don't know if different players would be any better or worse than the ones out there though.

Your argument is ridiculous. If we stopped selecting players that haven't beaten Australia or produced the goods, the quality of the team selected would rapidly decline as poorer quality players came in and copped even bigger beatings.

On the whole we just about select the best players we can, based on their performances over time in super league. If we select worse players on the basis the other ones have failed our chances go from 1 to 0.
