We dont need to put the best youngsters in poor teams, but have the better youngsters playing against each other in better teams.

of course having them all in one team wont do us good. But if we have 10-15 'super' amateur teams get them playing against each other

except they didnt overspend by £200k did they? they deffered payments as allowed under the rules to the value of £200k, which the RFL retrospectively decided wasnt allowed then arbitrarily handed down punishment.

Then whoever set those rules should have been sacked , and this is the point being made , whatever rules are made with regards players and the salary cap , the clubs will agree one day , and then be looking how to break them the following day , we have seen it in the NL's/Championships , and we know it happens in SL , we need a salary cap for several reasons , we dont need a salary cap to prevent clubs using foreign players , all that needs is for the clubs to decide not to use them , they wont , so no salary cap rule will make them not use them either

They did. The total amount paid to players for playing in that season (which is what the cap applies to) was £200k over the limit.



There's nothing in the rules about when payments are made. The rules refer only to what the payments are for. So even if a club made a payment in 10 years time to a player for playing this year it would still count against this year's cap (it seems obvious that payments for playing this year count against this year's cap).



It clearly wasn't enough of a deterrent. That'll be why they increased the sanctions available against future transgressors.

Do we know what they now are , is it financial , which would be better than a point deduction , not like it would relegate anybody is it

the same argument surely applies for the SC as a whole also. Clubs could spend less/more efficiently/to their means but they wont. No salary cap rule will make them either. So the whole thing is a waste of time

this may be relevant if it was what Wigan did. But they didnt. They offered players new contracts on less money for that year, and new contracts on more money for the year after. This wasnt against the rules.

Wigan were contracted to pay out less than the SC for that year. And the next year also.

it is still quite a punishment. One that would be unheard of in any other sport.

How hard would it be to have a clause stating that any use of ' loopholes ' will be deemed as being cheating , and cheating gives the RFL unlimited scope to punish the said users of the loophole

id wonder why if Wigan broke the rules the RFL felt the need to close a loophole that never existed.
