Balding, love her or hate her, is one of sports most high profile commentators and is an excellent appointment, IMO significantly better than Adams.
She will bring some profile to the game, something which we are desperately in need of and may also encourage some new blood to the game in terms of the sports viewing audience.

Good appointment. Think she ticks a lot of boxes.

I'm mystified by the RFL president role I must admit. It's purely ceremonial and we chose someone every year? For what purpose?

Clare Baldwin is possibly the best Sports presenter on TV. No matter what she is doing horse racing tennis olympics or RL she shows interest intelligence a commitment to it. Makes it understandable for the viewer. In the sports world she is well loved and high profile.

Whilst the beeb only pay her 1/7th of what they pay lineker she is far better than him.

Really pleased she has got the presidents gig.

Claire Balding is solid gold. This is an appointment for the ages!

She's knowledgeable because she has a strong research team behind her and their briefing notes in front of her and she's passionate about all sport because that is what pays her bills - she's a professional sports supporter, a very good one though.

When I was living in that there London, I was a regular at Broncos games.

Claire had a full page in the Evening Standard, sports section, where she'd write about various sports.

She was taken to The Valley to see the Broncos play Wigan.

On her next full page, roughly three quarters of it were given over to her account of her RL experience.
She wrote very highly of it, extremely highly of it, actually.

I approve of this appointment.

In presenting RL on the BBC, CB was always very accomplished and knowledgeable.

Good appointment for me, and perhaps she could assist with opening the door for RL, via her contacts at BT Sport.

In this instance, I think you'll find it hard to discover many people who think the CB being appointed to this role is anything other than a positive step if a somewhat "ceremonial" one

The GE and Brexit is a bit more important.
