| Couldn't care less what the stadium name is.
It's money. Money the game badly needs and money the club needs to run.
That's why we've never been in admin, never failed to pay players' wages and don't owe money to HMRC.
HTH.

| Okay, I'll say it...
Money can go walk for all the tradition and heritage ed down the toilet. Why not change the name of the club for a sponsor or incorporate a sponsor into the name of the team? What would be the difference?
Some things were once sacrosanct, then along came nihilism.

Agree. Castleford dragging the sport down the toilet once again for the sake of a few quid because they can't generate funds any other way. Utterly embarrassing but then all so amusing at the same time

Commercial revenue is a vital part of all clubs.
DW Stadium
KC Stadium
Headingley Carnegie Stadium
Galpharm Stadium/John Smith's Stadium
Provident Stadium
Rapid Solicitors Stadium
and so on. All clubs take advantage of their stadium and it's a significant generator of money behind shirt sponsorship.
You just sound bitter.....and your hatred of Cas really is both sad and amusing.

| 'Price of everything, value of nothing...'
Stadium naming rights are now a part of professional sport, but any business such as Cas need to consider the value impact of any partnerships entered into. Its possible and likely that the income from the deal will outweigh any lost revenue from fans or other sponsors staying away because the name is ridiculous, however I think it is also likely that this deal devalues the quality of the Cas brand. It paints them as desperate for cash, willing to sell out and make themselves sound ridiculous for the sake of a quick buck. In other words it devalues the brand. Short term gain, long term loss. If we advertise the fact we're that desperate for money what impression does that give of our game?

Are you seriously suggesting that, amongst the various considerations made by supporters before committing to a match ticket, that the name of the stadium is going to be a deciding factor in the decision of whether or not to attend a game?

We've increased our commercial income by 70% this year. Sponsors couldn't give a toss what the name is called, only that they get a ROI.
The sport IS desperate for cash. Don't kid yourself otherwise. The game is built on sand with many clubs struggling to break even or relying on benefactors to spend what they need to compete. Take away benefactors and a lot of Super League would go pop over night.
As for devaluing a brand, how about a brand being devalued by giving away a title sponsor for free and then failing to get a new sponsor for the league the following season?
Sorry; we should be applauding any club that brings money into our game and drives up their own income. It's what good businesses do and whether the stadium is the Rapid Solicitors Stadium, KC Stadium or Mend-a-hose Jungle, it's all money that is badly needed in our game.
If you think that money isn't needed, then I'd be genuinely worried. I was at Headingley several seasons again when they had a "blood bin sponsor". That may offer some comedic value but credit to them selling something as a commodity. Sport is a business, whether you like it or not. And to run a business you need money coming in and advertising (or sponsorship) is one way of doing it.
For what it's worth, Mend-a-hose are loyal sponsors and their Director is also the Director of Cas. They probably have invested in the club not only to drive it forward but also to help improve the ground badly and look to restore the club to its former success, which we are by spending the cap next season. Bravo, I say. After all, you've all been crowing about how Cas "drag" Super League down and how we should spend the cap. Be glad we've found a way to facilitate that.

| What a load of tosh it's money for effectively nothing. A stadium name. Jes. Weldon Road.
What does that mean, bet most have never looked it up.
Well I will save you the time.
Weldon = From the spring hill.

Difficult question and depends on circumstances.
If the company is operating legally and the service they provide is legally then they have the right to advertise like anyone else, even if you or I don't agree with the service they provide.
If there are other sponsors knocking down the door then I would always go with the other sponsors first.
You have to think what's best for the club; if you associate yourself with a company like that is it going to deter fans from supporting the club, is it going to affect your brand to the point where no one else has dealings with you. You have to take into consideration the wider perspective.
However, if the club was on the cusp of going under and little to no chance of salvation and the only way out was a company offering this money, would you take it? Is the club bigger than me....yes? I'd probably consider accepting the money in that situation.
Let's turn this on it's head. With all the rumours with London now and the only chance of maintaining a salary cap spending Super League team next season was if a perceived unethical company - in your eyes - made an offer and said they'd pump loads of money into marketing and running the club, what would you do or say? Would you jump ship? Even if it aided in London becoming a successful club/brand at the pinnacle of the sport?

What does the 'h' changing the meaning to? Scrap that, I already know. It means "Rugby League God's church"
