| As Mike Smith at Rovers said, a stadium now is more than just a place to watch rugby, it has to do more every day of the year not just about 18 days of every year.
I appreciate new stadia are built to specifications governed by laws and planning permission...etc but there will be hardly any need soon to play home and away games as all new stadia are either like the Halliwell Jones Stadium or the KC Stadium. Not just in RL either.
When you walked in to Knowsley Road you knew you was there, when you walked into Wheldon Road you knew which stadium you were at. Now you have to print the seats with the name of the club just so you know where you are because most stadia are similar text book designs.
Kind of takes the soul out of the game for me.

| i think cas have a very strong possibility of getting this stadium, id say 80% or more of making it happen
getting the ground done safeguards their SL spot for at least 10 years, thats another SL spot nailed down

| looks good, just re OP, no its not expensive to do this sort of thing. Any amateur architect/landscape software could put it together and do fly thoughs, I do it all the time for mates who want ideas for their gardens.

| Warrington and Widnes do their own versions of buy a brick. The Bevan wall?, IIRC? TrustinWidnes sold personalisation of bricks in our North Stand.

| Cool, although, it looks pretty much identical to our ground in design, in fact it looks like pretty much the same plans. Leighs and Widnes' tbf, are a little different

It looks nothing like the HJ now if you'd have said Chesterfield's new ground that's the stadium to look at if you want a real life view of what the stadium will look like.
Oh and planning permission could be sorted any time from today to something like Tuesday IIRC.

| JB Down Under.
The flythrough is not the expensive part (though I daresay even the cheapest "3D modelling" pacakges have that capability now). I was producing one today for a project we are tendering for. Took about 3 minutes to produce it in 2 different formats. But them i really am shiit hot at my job.
What you COULDN'T do, is design and produce a fully compliant and buildable stadium model (including the bits the flythrough doesn't show).
That bit ISN'T cheap. You pay for about a year's man-weeks of professional expertise in a number of disciplines just to get it beyond the feasability stage.
The fly-through is a five minute side-job for the junior technician, to dazzle the client and interested laymen. It's a free bonus feature of Autodesk Navisworks (and other similar packages) to show off at the arrse end of a £100k (min) development and modelling stage.
But if you want to compare doing a little bit of gardening drawing on Google Sketchup with a professionally designed, contemporary sporting stadium then fill yer boots, but it makes you look a tit.
And I'll never forget that you made me defend architects! <ack>
As for the staduim, well it's nice enough I suppose. Nothing special, but it's got a field and stands, so I'm sure it'll be fine. Lots of car-parking too which is good to see.
Regarding the "buy a brick" scheme, loads of clubs have done it. But just because it's not a NEW idea, doesn't mean it's not a good one.
A club with realistic ambitions is no bad thing.
Good luck with it Cas.

What? Why 80%? On what possible basis have you come up with that figure without knowing the detailed facts of the scheme? I am 75% sure that you talk total bollax sometimes. You must have a lovely brush to sweep those general statements around.
Sorry for being blunt mate.

I 100% agree with you there. I consider the whole thing a tragedy to be honest.
Regarding this buy a brick scheme, I think this thing has some serious potential. It is something that i think every fan should consider, for 50 you can have something that will be there possibly for 100 years, for your kids, grandkids etc, to see. And why not make them available to businesses also. If you get a business willing to buy a block of 100 that they can paint or engrave them to show a big company logo company logo then let them do it. I think it has great benefit for both parties. Sure, they would have to spend 5000 on it, but it's good exposure (that lasts a lifetime) and good publicity, as they will be seen as supporting the local team.

the 80% was to say its very likely the stadium would be built.

Yes. Perhaps I was harsh. I just think, what's the point of giving it a sepcific percentage if you've no insight to the plans and finances.
