Agreed, England v NZ games are far more eagerly anticipated than they used to be IMO and I guess the crowd will be up there with anything we've managed in the recent past against them.
Which, considering just how poor England have been of late, is no mean feat.
If we can get a competetive side out on the pitch, we'd draw some very good crowds.

Not even filling the grand final at old trafford or internationals in stadia that are 25k capacity tops over here anymore.

Given the discrepancy in media exposure and the fact that Australia is one of the few places that the soccer goliath hasn't set up shop yet, I'd argue we don't do too badly compared to our ocker friends.

Soccer is more popular in Oz than you would think.
And the Socceroos beat England 3-1 last time they played each other

When you have teams averaging 20,000+ fans every game in the THIRD DIVISION, then you'll start to have a point.

Apart from Leeds who else does that?
They keep falling at the last hurdle, but they should rise to championship this season.
Leeds are an exception, not the rule. They certainly arent your standard League 1 club.

You didn't grasp the idea did you?
The discussion was about numbers of empty seats in grounds at internationals, not the size of the respective crowds.

Barrie McKenzie talks 5h1t again shocker!!

Soccer is practically on its death bed in aussie - yeah promising starts and gates of 10-15k when there was the initial hype and interest, but now the games been found out for what it is and the hypes gone the game is on its @r5e just like ice hocky and basketball are here after promising starts.
Soccer is not a good enough game to survive without hype.....if it lost the media attention and hype in this country it would no doubt die as well as the product just isnt interesting enough.....aussie at least have had the sence to see it for what it is after a few years of hype....sadly however that is never going to happen in the uk

| Course it would Andy.
I know teams full of football lads who spend their evenings watching the League on sky yet when it comes to doing their chosen form of exercise they're all playing in the Warry sat/sun league soccer.
Simply its an easy game to pick up and simple to play anywhere added to that you dont get hurt for the most part like you do in amateur rugby and there's, for me, the biggest reason why soccer will always be massive.
Probably why leagues big in the TV ratings, plenty find it entertaining, not many fancy playing

The simplicity of wendyball is what makes it popular in the first place, then the media go ga-ga over disreputable dummies like Dwayne Looney and it sounds glamorous, then you can get paid £5k a week for being mediocre at best. Not going to be easy to dislodge is soccer, depite the fact, clear to the more intellifgent among us, that it's corrupt and crap.

| I find it strange that Huddersfield Town were playing at home tonight.
The pitch should be "fun" if they've had the weather in Huddersfield that we have had here.
