Two things-

Firstly, where at any point do I say he shouldn't be criticised for homophobic abuse? Please show me. If you can prove beyond any reasonable doubt that he has made some, then knock yourself out.

Secondly, you mention Chavs and car insurance which, the last time I checked, is an open and shut case. A ridiculous comparison, considering this one is far more speculative and you have all decided to act as judge, jury and executioner.

Don,t think the saints club will bother with it to be honest, as its had TV coverage you never know, some deaf person from the gay community who can lip read might feel offended.

So even though he hasn't been cited, no one on the field has complained, people are still going to take it as fact what he said based on unreliable lip reading skills.

What I can't fathom is that in the middle of what was a decent game, people have been more bothered about pausing, rewinding, replaying that incident over and over just to try and work out what he said - why weren't they just enjoying the game?

It really is sad.

They wanted to be outraged. They wanted to stick the knife in. They wanted a right good moan. I think even if he'd said a completly different word after f*cking, like tw*t or kn*b, or even the C word, people would still be kicking off on here outraged.

Can't see the problem. It's just words in the heat of the moment. If someone did grab his tackle then arguably justifiable?

or if you were a Rhino fan trying to defend the indefensible (again) then you'd certainly look to deflect attention onto someone else!

Most leeds fans did not defend zack earlier in the season.

But against unproven accusations, you bet your ass they will.

RE the peacock one above. If you look for it, you will see players swear at the ref often.

But for some reason people are taking the time to upload incidents involving only leeds players.

Of course leeds fans will be defensive, it's a relentless siege upon their players.

As a Wigan fan, much as I would like to see Hardaker banned for the play-offs, I do think he said "pervert" rather than "puff" as there were too many syllables used for it to be the latter.

But then again, I'm not a brilliant lip reader.

There maybe a higher proportion of RL internet users that are of the homosexual persuasion. Therefore a higher proportion that you would expect to be offended.

I certainly have not done a demographic of the RL population.

Why would homosexual people be seemingly automatically outraged?

The gays and bisexual people I know, if I showed them the clip of Hardaker from Friday and said he's called another player a puff they'd either laugh/dismiss or be offended at me for thinking that would bother them.

Homosexual people have to battle much more serious and tougher issues regarding discrimination than to worry and get upset about a rugby player shouting that out in the middle of the match. Anybody who thinks they would be are treating them with kids gloves and THAT would offend them more from my experience than what Hardaker MAY have said.

So there is not a range of people.

They all conform to people you know.

Great another witch hunt thread on no actual evidence just opinion of people lip reading when you can't even see his lips at the end of what he said. If I could be bothered I would look through most televised game and see something that might or might not have been said.
Hardaker made a mistake erlier in the year which he admitted to, and so the witch hunt begins and because he has done it once is accused of something because of what he did previously with no evidence to confirm it. Which for me some have been on shaky ground re defamation of character etc

Exactly, there is a range of people that was the point. Not just the "all homosexuals will take offence", popular consensus on here seemed to be that they'd ALL fall under the offended banner.....reality is the wouldn't.
