| Quote ="castrated"Let me stand on the terraces of a traditional ground rather than be shoe horned into plastics seats with the leg room allocated to a jet2 customer. For this privilege you pay top dollar and are forever standing up when the action gets exciting. Which in the case of rugby league is 80% of game time. Stick your football stadia up your ars*s and lets get back to affordability. Have we forgot the last few years of credit and overstretching ourselves as greedy people made money on the back of other peoples' debt.
Lets gradually improve matters and lower the criteria for franchises. If we have 20 teams meeting this criteria, then lets copy the American Football model of divisions based on geography, which also incorporates rotational inter divisional matches and end of season play offs. Cas for example would not solely be playing matches in their division but would be up against Lancashire and Cumbrian teams too.
The criteria for franchises can be gradually improved at a slower more sustainable rate. I don't want rugby league to be part of a 'closed club' of selfish teams administered by faceless toss*rs. Lets be more open to supporting our smaller teams and give them a chance to grow.
Stop the backbiting and sacrificing, stick together and change tactics, it doesn't have to be the selfish way.'"

Good post. Sadly the game is turning into a closed shop. The RFL motivations are expansion and attracting sugar daddys. The clubs are all for ring fencing themselves in while everyone else can go to hell. Including my own team in that criticism! The biggest tragedy is that if your outside of the top 4 the emotion has gone out of the game, just not the same for the rest of the teams. Getting rid of P n R is very slowly going to kill the game.

True, if you aren't Leeds, Saints, Wire, Wigan, Huddersfield, Hull and KR, you really have nothing to play for. We're becoming soccer. Too Predictable.

In Soccer at least the dream is still alive, teams way down the pyramid know the dream of doing a Wimbeldon is still there. Take that away what are you left with?

| Quote ="Wellsy13"Toulouse haven't applied. Only 3 teams have: Barrow, Halifax and Widnes.
For me, the order of preference to go up would be: 1. Widnes; 2. Halifax, 3. Barrow.
Those in danger would probably be (in this order): 1. Wakefield; 2. Castleford; 3. Salford; 4. Crusaders; 5. Harlequins.
Widnes and Wakefield to swap is pretty much nailed on IMO. They would be well above all 5 of those teams. I think the real question is whether they think Halifax would be worth a punt over one of the rest of the four. Do they have a better bid than Castleford? Personally, I'd give them a punt if nothing is sorted with Castleford's stadium by July.'" Well above Cas? In what way? Attendances? No. Playing squad? No. Accademy? No. Profitability? No. So how are they well above Cas? a better ground does not make them a better option.

| I find it hilarious that there is a poster called WersYourMylerGone. Myler wasnt among the best players at our club, he wasnt even the best youth prospect. And lo and behold, he isnt among the best players at Warrington, and probably isnt even in the top 25 best players in Super League.
Saying 'WersYourMylerGone' is a little like saying 'WersYourDeanGaskellGone'. Decent player, too small to be top class, only loss to Widnes was the ridiculous amount of money you were robbed of to get him. PMSL.

Thing is though Castrated , and you can deny this if you want , but if you were in say Huddersfields position , then you would not have this opinion , your SL place would be guaranteed , and I'm fairly certain Ken Daly would not vote for a reduction in SKY revenue to accomadate another half a dozen heartland clubs , given that he is already pouring millions a year in just to stay standing still , your club is at risk , and basically you now would take anything other than dropping out of SL , you know the possible future for your club if that happens , no one season ' Butlins ' holiday this time , more like an emigration to the third world

| Why not demote the team that finishes bottom? And the side who wins the Championship can replace them. I also have a name for this radical idea. It could be called 'sport'.

| I'd never actually realised that the other Championship clubs would re-apply along with the Super League clubs after one successful Championship bid is announced in March. Suppose it makes sense, seeing as any number of those 3 bids could be successful theoretically and more than 1 could come up. I still don't think it's right the RFL guaranteed that one would be up and one down, seems to go against the whole ethos of the licencing system. Surely it should just be the best 14 applications regardless? It would be a bit harsh if the current SL clubs were the best 14 bids yet one has to go.
FWIW I think Widnes will be announced in March and 13 SL clubs to retain place. I will feel incredibly sorry for whoever has to go out. Between Crusaders, Wakey and Cas for me. I can't see either Salford or Quins being kicked out.

well said,it's blatantly wrong to go ahead with the enforced dismissal of one club come what may - each application has to looked at on merit - Widnes deserve a go in SL but should have been there anyway in 2009 - the whole thing is a farce IMO

The thing is , like telling lies , once you start to ignore your own rules , or the truth , you dont then know where to stop
And they have dug such a big hole for themselves , they havent a clue how to get themselves out of it
The only solution will be for them to expand SL to 16 , which will get them off the hook
This however will cost money , and unless the sports main benefactor is willing to pay extra , where will this money come from ? , hopefully not from funds that were going to be spent elswhere ?

good idea but it's definitely NOT what the players want !

Likewise - I have a lot of respect for you generally, but your eagerness to accept everything that you are told from Wheldon Road, despite the failure to deliver on almost every single occassion, is quite astonishing. Sorry!
