the rules regarding Junior players are in some instances poor. How would the RFL justify punishing a club for investing more money in more juniors? they couldnt. So rather than draw attention to the idiocy of this rule, or provoke outrage from the clubs it undeservedly benefits they just ignore it.

Legally it would be fine. The definitions of fed-trained etc followed the lead of Uefa. The EU have confirmed they are fine with this and wouldnt follow it up as it isnt based on nationality. Which is why we use it for our quota. There would be no further legal ramifications for putting this into our SC as well.

And so what if clubs try to use loopholes. That isnt an excuse for doing nothing. If they use them and they are there we can close them.

As for the RFL , why do they have rules that make it difficult for clubs to run teams that develop players ?

The lack of quality RL players from this country is much more because of the standard of training they recieve at amatuer level than anything any clubs do , far too much importance is put on producing winning teams instead of producing good RL players , the use of ' super ' amatuer clubs by professional clubs is also detrimental to player development

Look at next weekends fixtures and at how close a lot of them look, when you take into account this weekends performances. No better example of levelling out, and most look like real crackers.

The idea that good players would become better by playing with poorer players rather than the players of a similar level is nonsense. The players development would be damaged much more by playing with players who arent good enough than against

i remember hearing this for the first 10 games of last year too.

If you stick all the biggest , fastest and best players in one team they dont have to improve and test themselves , in fact the one position where this shows up more than any other is the half back position , which coincidently is the one position we have struggled at for years and still do

or we could improve them by having the biggest, fastest, best players playing against each other with players of a similar level.

We dont need to put the best youngsters in poor teams, but have the better youngsters playing against each other in better teams.

of course having them all in one team wont do us good. But if we have 10-15 'super' amateur teams get them playing against each other

Ah yes - going against "the spirit of the salary cap". The deferment of wages by players meant that they didn't cheat. My bad. You're right - 4 points for only overspending by £200k was indeed brutal.

except they didnt overspend by £200k did they? they deffered payments as allowed under the rules to the value of £200k, which the RFL retrospectively decided wasnt allowed then arbitrarily handed down punishment.

...............and a lesson to all other clubs as to what will face them if they try and go against "the spirit of the game". The RFL certainly know how to throw down the gauntlet.

Then whoever set those rules should have been sacked , and this is the point being made , whatever rules are made with regards players and the salary cap , the clubs will agree one day , and then be looking how to break them the following day , we have seen it in the NL's/Championships , and we know it happens in SL , we need a salary cap for several reasons , we dont need a salary cap to prevent clubs using foreign players , all that needs is for the clubs to decide not to use them , they wont , so no salary cap rule will make them not use them either

Wasting your time arguing the point , the clubs like us fans dont care about the National team , and no rules that the RFL bring in will help that situation

They did. The total amount paid to players for playing in that season (which is what the cap applies to) was £200k over the limit.



There's nothing in the rules about when payments are made. The rules refer only to what the payments are for. So even if a club made a payment in 10 years time to a player for playing this year it would still count against this year's cap (it seems obvious that payments for playing this year count against this year's cap).



It clearly wasn't enough of a deterrent. That'll be why they increased the sanctions available against future transgressors.

Do we know what they now are , is it financial , which would be better than a point deduction , not like it would relegate anybody is it
