| Was this just a statement he read or was in answer to a question?
Probably the latter as Wigan's press conf is usually Tuesday morning.
McGuire should be banned and for two matches as he's served a one match already for, I believe, a head high tackle.
Worse than McIlorum's? Not much to chose to be honest.
Both Laffranchi and Anderson had their backs to the oncoming player when hit. Both were hit by late shots to the side of the head although Anderson was being held in a tackle whereas the Saints man was not in a tackle. That's how I saw both incidents anyway.
As I said, not much to chose between them.

| He should have been sent off, which may have affected the result and any ban would ride over to next season.

I think your missing one of the main reasons McGuires isn't as bad as Mcllorum's. Anderson was being tackled and falling to the ground. Now don't get me wrong McGuire should get one game as it was reckless and he hit him in the head but I don't think the intent was to hit jim in the head, whereas Mcllorums was late and the player wasn't falling.
The two incidents aren't comparable IMO.
Now Im really surprised Fakir isn't being charge dwith anything, the elbow in the face and high shot on burrow were equally as bad as McGuires again IMO

If he had been sent off I reckon he'd be looking at sending off sufficient, so if Leeds went on to win can you imagine the frothing from Wane then

| It's distasteful and unsportsmanlike for coaches (and players) to be calling for bans whilst defending their own players, even in cases that are clearly indefensible.
It's getting like bloody football.

Any minute now probably.
He probably should get a ban but for amusement purposes only, I hope he doesn't. I also hope he intercepts a pass, goes 80 metres and scores under the posts (and the Wigan end) before tearing off his shirt to reveal a slogan saying "Rugby Gods? Kiss my Tomkins, Clarke".

what leaves a nasty taste in my mouth is a coach using the media to try to get an opposing player banned.

What about the taste in your mouth when seeing a coach using the media to try and get the same player off scot free?

| I do like how Wane wears his heart in his sleeve, if it wasn't for him then the regular season would have been a pointless.
However there is a line, defending your own player fair enough (even when you have indefensible incidents like MM), i don't mind calling for bans if it was his player that got a bad shot, but calling for a ban of a player your playing against next is out of order IMO and he should be warned or fined for his comments. A coach should bot be allowed to make comments about disciplinary trials of another of an incident that has nothing to do with his club.
I'm no Leeds fan, but for me a one game ban is spot on.

It’s one thing for the Leeds coach trying to get his own player off the hook, that’s quite natural.
It’s another when an opposition coach tries to get the said player banned – very underhand.

Not sure, he appears to be a very fervent Wigan fan, with the odd outburst, like many fans.
I just think he needs to rein it in a bit. I admire his passion, however, as a coach, he needs a little more decorum.

| Wanes comments and appearing to try and influence the disciplinary panel will only serve to further motivete the Rhinos.
There could be an upset on the cards, again !

| The RFL have refuted claims that having a one man disciplinary panel of Shaun Wane was in any way biased.

Spot on.
It's poor form when a coach comes out and publicly makes such a statement. Wane should be warned about his future conduct IMO.

| IMO it's poor form that West Yorkshire is over represented on the disciplinary panel (or at least it was last time I saw a list of members - it's hard to check because there doesn't seem to be a full list on the RFL's website, which is typical). If anyone has the info and can post it on here I'd be interested to see what the make up of the panel currently is. It may be that the good men of Leeds, Bradford etc are entirely fair when they are judging players from other areas (or their own) but this is also a question of perception - justice must be seen to be done. No matter how impartial the decision making process actually is, the suspicion of bias will always remain if the panel is seen to be unbalanced.
I've long said that the RL disciplinary tribunal should be chaired by a judge, like its RU counterpart. As in so many other areas (apart from the actual game itself, thank God!) RL has a lot to learn from RU.

Thanks - actually having looked him up it looks like he was a circuit judge, but I won't split hairs, a retired circuit judge is fine! Does he chair all the panel decisions?

I'm not aware of a RL team called 'West Yorkshire,' so in what way are you suggesting that panel would be prone to bias?
