| I support you JB. One day I may even get to fly out there.
The Roosters SG Ball team fly there for round 1, early in the morning, play, then go back to the airport and fly back to Sydney, all on the same day. Ouch.

Great news from our bid team today. One of the main NRL concerns was that we could be another Melbourne, needing millions to keep us afloat every year. Hopefully this will calm some of them nerves. The likely main sponsor is Cash Converters, a WA company that has always been a strong supporter of WA RL and is now an international concern with over 600 stores.
www.nrl.com/finance-not-an-issue ... fault.aspx
Western Australia's bid team claim they'd be among the highest sponsorship-earning NRL clubs within two years if admitted to the competition.
They are acting on advice to have their bid ready to go in the next few weeks and indications are finance should not be an issue given interest shown in the AFL-dominated state.
"I've been told: 'Don't be surprised if you get a phone call from possibly even (NRL chief) David Gallop this month giving you six weeks to have something on the table'," said West Australian Rugby League Bid project manager Ralph McManis.
"That's so the independent commission can take them into review at their very first meeting in the first week of May."
WARL chief executive John Sackson said about $4 million worth of company sponsorship commitments were already on the table and one of them was prepared to commit $1.5 million to be the team's major sponsor.
Following the lead of Star City casino's recent major sponsorship of South Sydney and the partnership between Crown Casino and the Melbourne Storm, Perth's Burswood Casino was among those eager to be involved with a WA team.
Despite having only been able to sell "hopes and dreams" at this stage, McManis said the interest shown by the business community made them believe the club would be very profitable.
"We've had a bit of a roadshow around some of the corporates of Perth, particularly the top end of town," he said.
"If we're awarded a licence, we anticipate we could go close to being the highest sponsor-earning NRL club in our first two years."

Storm Coach Backs Perth for Expansion
If we're looking at what's best for the game and best for television rights, I think a second Brisbane team and Perth are the preferable options.
I've been fortunate to travel to the city in recent seasons when the Storm has played games. The crowds have been impressive. They make for enthusiastic spectators.
The important thing for Perth is to get the right people involved. They need to hire a chief executive, coach, captain and senior players who know what our game is about and how you build a successful club.
They need a bit of patience. They need good development and recruitment systems. Most importantly, they need to get the right people in the right positions. You need strong foundations in your club to make it grow.
The other thing Perth brings to the table is the prospect of the game having a national competition again. In my eyes, the advantage of being national is the bargaining power it would give us with regard to television rights. We need to use that leverage to get a better deal for the clubs, their supporters and sponsors.

The WA Red Army Closes in on its 250th recruit!
A newly set up rugby league independent supporters group in Western Australia is providing a strong voice in support of a WA team's inclusion in the 2013 NRL competition. With support coming in from all over the world, as well as strong representation from across Western Australia, the WA Red Army committee are very pleased with the response to the new fanclub.
Red Army Chairperson, Jason Burton, said " We had anticipated having around 300 members by the end of our first year so to have reached nearly 250 within the first few weeks is great and shows the high level of interest in RL in Western Australia."
With an aim to give RL fans in WA an opportunity to come together to support the greatest game as well as act as the official fan club of the WA Reds, the Red Army's ranks are swelling. Working closely with the WARL and WA Reds bid team the Red Army committee are ensuring the voice of fans is heard in the development a future WA NRL team. A new Red Army website has recently been launched and a monthly newsletter is keeping members up to date with all the latest WA news and views.
Membership is free and easy to join via the Red Army website. Simply complete the form and become a part of the future of RL in Western Australia.

Perth-based NRL team would provide huge windfall: chairman
A PERTH-BASED NRL team would inject up to $28million into the local economy, according to WA Rugby League chairman David Hobbs.
Hobbs and WARL chief executive John Sackson will fly to Sydney this week to meet NRL boss David Gallop and pitch the WA Reds' case for admission to the national competition in 2013.
They will tell Gallop a major sponsor is ready to sign a $1.5-$2million deal.
Hobbs and Sackson will also attend an Australian Rugby League conference.
Hobbs said they would point out the success, not the perceived failure, of their predecessor the Western Reds, which fielded a side in the NRL in 1995 and '96 and as the Perth Reds in Super League in 1997.
"We've spent a lot of money researching the sustainability and feasibility of a team here in WA with positive feedback," Hobbs said.

| Reds' Chiefs Sell the WOW Factor
Perth Reds took the first small step this week in what they hope will be a giant leap for West Australian sport.
A WA Rugby Leage delegation of chief executive John Sackson, chairman David Hobbs and director Bruce Havilah had a 90 minute meeting with NRL chief David Gallop and Andrew Hill, the newly appointed director of league integration and game development, in Sydney. Hill's involvement is significant. Hew as involved with the Western Reds, which fileded a team in the NRL in 1995 and '96 as the innaugural coaching and development manager and was also a reserve grade player with the club. Hill returned to Sydney at the end of '96 when the Reds joined Superleague. He spent 18 months with the AFL helping set up the GWS, and has now been lured back to the NRL for what he describes as an "incredibly exciting time".
Hill has an affinity with the Perth market, a factor that will not hurt the WARL bid. One of his new roles will be to coordinate the needs of teh wider game once the ARL is disbanded and a new 8 director independent commision is set up to run the game. Hill will report directly to Gallop and one of the first issues on the agend will be expansion.
"The meeting was very positive" Sackson said. "We had the opportunity to highlight every aspect of our case and where we are at, particularly with regard to sustainability, feasibility, corporate governance and government support".
" The formal proposal with all the bells and whistles willbe made once we get confirmation the NRL is expanding, but we belive we're in a great position right now."
The Reds have lined up a major sponsor which is ready to sign a $1.5-2million deal.
Hill will visit Perth in the "next month or so" and be updated on the Reds' plans to join the NRL in 2013 and see what shape the game is in at greassroots level.
