Origin is only successful in undermining the international calendar. Nobody outside of Australia gives a cr@p who wins. It's a good spectacle, don't get me wrong. But it is not very important outside of Australia and is definitely not more important than a good international series could be.

I'd rather watch a 3-test series between Australia and New Zealand personally.

david solomona was a handy forward with a good offload in the nrl, and in SL he becomes a playmaker.

Solomona has played in the halves twice, and is a fat bloater. Chris Flannery played in the halves at Origin didn't he?

or maybe the skills of a forward in the NRL are good enough to be a play maker in SL?

after going to 7 world cup games its good to have origin where you dont have to worry about blow outs and the quality of the game is fantastic.

im all for RL growing and what not, but there are times as a RL fan i just want to sit back and enjoy a fantastic game and not be worried that if one team dominates RL will get a black eye and be made a joke of.

international rl maybe be a work in progress with a lot of holes in it, but origin is simply perfect.

glen morrison playing at 6? about as funny as steve menzies & jamie lyon playing at 6 or indeed jon wilkin playing at 7............when the need arises some players are asked to play anywhere..

as for solomona....your telling me he was allowed to throw it about in the NRL like he does in ESL??? we've given him freedom to play his game, in the NRL he was'nt...nobody was,just stick it up the jump..

the only problem is most aussies have actually heard about him so in that sense its more of an unusual signing for a SL club

As an Eels fan who watched plenty of the Armadillo, he was given plenty of freedom to move the ball about (for the roosters as well).

Throwing the ball about doesnt always mean creativity or good football either.

As for one of the reasons being so popular in Australia, if Great Britan (england) was maybe a bit more competitive over the past 30 years, Origin may not be perceived as the the pinnalce (in Aus) of Rugby League that it is.

But for now, blanket media coverage in over 50% of Australia for over 3 weeks, millions of fans live on TV and nearly 200k through the gates each year, nearly 30 years of great contests.... For us Aussies (and even RL in general) its a great thing for our game.
