Double headers don't really work in my humble opinion.
You generally pay to see YOUR team not 3 others.
Far more sensible to have had NZ V Australia at Loftus Rd or the Stoop and England v Wales at the DW.

| One thing the RFL need to sort out if it is to be a double header is.
Food and drinks at wembley its a total rip off. So to keep people in the ground for both games they need to work with the stadium company to do some deals.

Quote ="StuMain"Several people have mentioned the club wembley seats. My understanding was that the club wembley seats covered several events (of which 1 rl game is included) plus PRIORITY for other events. So, given the challenge cup is the one RL event, surely any seats not taken by the club wembley holders for the double header by the deadline can be sold to other folk.

What events will a Club Wembley Seat Licence entitle me to see?
You will receive one ticket per licensed seat for the following matches* **:
All England senior home games
The FA Cup Final
Both FA Cup Semi Finals
The FA Community Shield
The Football League Cup Final and
The Rugby League Challenge Cup Final
* Club Wembley International seat licence holders receive tickets for all England senior home games only.
** excludes bid events
Do I have an option on any other events?
Yes, you will also have an option to purchase tickets or hospitality packages for other world class sporting events in the Stadium including concerts.'"
That is correct but the point I was making is that those facilities and seats (16k of them) will have to be more expensive than the rest. Loads of the seats are underneath boxes etc. and hospitaility comes with them, they have arms on them and they are all padded for comfort. No way will we have a chance of selling 16k seats of that quality. They will be too expensive. If the RFL have any sense at all then they will be contacting all the businesses in every RL town and offering discounted hospitality and do their best to sell those 'posh' seats.
It would look pretty decent if we will the bottom tier and most of the second one.
I would be very shocked if we beat the international attendance record but that would be awesome.....
I very much doubt we will break the Wembley attendance record we can dream though.
Capacity by tiers...
Lower tier: 34,303
Middle tier: 16,532
Upper tier: 39,165
Lets hope we can at least pack that bottom tier and make it a great atmosphere.

| Absolutely fantastic news!!! Been waiting 6 years to see an International again!!
Obviously though, dissapointing that Wales miss out on a home game, but hopefully Wales v England is in Cardiff, as that'll be their biggest seller by a mile.
This is the last chance before the World Cup too, so we've gotta make it work, to show that huge stadiums should be used for internationals and that rugby league can have an international presence.

Yes?
I'm guessing you would rather have it played at Leigh in front of 6-8,000 people? I don't see why we couldn't fill out Cardiff City's ground for a Wales-England clash. They are enough English-hating South Welshman to fill it 5-times over. We just need to market it properly and turn it into an event.
Wales football struggle to find 20,000 regular attendees, however when they play England that goes out the window, as they filled the Millenium Stadium two weeks ago.

There are enough English hating South Welsh people to fill the Millennium Stadium, Wembley and Old Trafford 5 times over.
However there are only a small amount of those same South Welsh folk who can be bothered with Rugby League.
Football is a pretty poor comparison as people will go along because they are guaranteed a good highly charged atmosphere which sadly RL doesnt always provide.
If the game HAS to be played in Wales then Wrexham is the obvious choice.

Depends on who is marketing it......
Example.....Start of the season...7 games over 2 days in a state of the art stadium get's 30,219 a day...so 60,438 all told. That is about 250 less per game than a normal round of ESL.
Example II....Start of the season..2 games over 1 afternoon in a state of the art stadium gets 75,112 all told....Saracens v Irish got 7,013......Quins v Wasps 14,282......average 10,650...some way behind 37,556 per game.
Example III...Mid season, 1 game in a SOTA stadium........74,212 With the corresponsing fixture getting 8,776......hmmmm
....the RFL can nearly fill Wembley for an international the same way the Union lot nearly fill Twickenham for club games...but it will take a monumental effort and some real marketing spend! IMO that is

Our marketing is not fit to lace their boots. Plus all the Union supporters are down there. I would be much more confident if it was Old Trafford we were trying to fill, but I am happy we are taking international RL back to Wembley.
The ashes tours and world cups of the 90's should have been the start of something big for RL in this country, we need to get back to those times.

| Hear is for I would have it.
First game 1:45 pm, Second Game at 4:15pm with a good amount of enteraintment. Not mascot games.
Top tier £10/5
Bottom tier £15/7.50
Middle tier - Give Club wembley holders the offer of a free ticket. If at a certain date they do not take this offer up then these tickets go to a selection of top companies for aiming at potenial sponsors and not to the likes of Franks bathrooms of Leigh. With any left over going to Charities and competitions.
I would also take a large section of seating for families and families only not coach loads of lads.
As well this I would have a start prize. Saracans did this with there wembley games and got slpashed all over the news when the guy won. So the competition had a major sponsor and not Leeds met or Northern rail. Someone global like Ford (they could give a car away)

| I'll go for......
1st Game 4pm - BBC
2nd Game 6pm - SKY
All tickets £10/£5
Middle tier - Club wembley.....
You've no chance at all in trying to change them, members already have 'free' tickets for those seats, they've paid £10,000 for the privilege !!!
Subsidised coach travel from RL clubs might help the uptake but essentially its going to be down to the fans....

| Its not about Franks bathrooms, its about these 30000 kids playing the game, getting them and their parents into Wembley for the event/occassion. 30000 paying and 30000 targets done correctly will be a great achievement, sell them via their clubs/schools with transport laid on for a tenner, banners showing their club/school etc
Franks bathrooms already sponsor Leigh and all Leigh ST holders get a 15% discount off a full suite, Widnes fans get a bar of soap

| The RFL have to get their finger out with getting tickets on sale ASAP so that people can get cheap train fares and book them now in advance. As soon as dates and times are available i'll post any ticket that fans want from any area using the computers at work.

| Wembley always makes the headlines in the papers with it being the national stadium, so the two games will get far more coverage than they would do normally.
Lets fill the place, make some noise about it being filled and then build on that success for the 2013 World Cup.
How much does it cost to charter a train? Run a couple from Manchester and Leeds, and reach out to absolutely everyone that has ever expressed an interest in the sport before. Affordable tickets and affordable travel are the two key elements to having 90 000 rather than 40 000 people there. Someone at Red Hall seems to have gotten their act together recently so hopefully this will be sorted and the Wembley Double Header will be a success.

Why would Wrexham be the obvious choice? Crowds have dipped since Crusaders moved up north, though I suppose your notion is so it's easier for M62 fans to get to. Judging by the crowds of recent internationals, I doubt many will be bothering to travel the (small) extra journey.
If you think playing England isn't a crowd builder, then look at 2009. Wales-England drew just under 7,000 at Bridgend, with no marketing, a crumbling stadium and a friendly game. They only drew just over 1,000 against Scotland, in the Euro Cup final, a game with much more riding on it.
Now playing England in a top class stadium, four nations game (market it as RL's Six Nations to the taffs), and also build it as something like 'Come and see Gareth Thomas for the final time in Cardiff,' and I don't see why they can't get 25,000 for it.

Do you think Welsh people are that stupid that they don't know there is a difference between the concept of 6 strong RU nations playing in a tournament and 2 stong, 1 not so strong and 1 team of also rans put in to make the numbers up in a competition called the Rugby League 4 nations?
