All this guff regarding stadiums is pathetic. Of all the grounds, sorry stadiums (got to toe the corporate line!) in SL or the championship for that matter, you can go and WATCH rugby league. Whether you choose to stand or sit you are able to enjoy the product on show.

My point exactly. Many would consider their views impeded in some of these "traditional" grounds. SL are trying to raise the standards so that this isn't in issue. Whether their view is seriously impeded (like you say about playing on a field) or only slightly impeded doesn't matter as the RFL are after a standard much higher for their facilities (fit for 21st century).

It clearly does matter as teams with better facilities are getting more now than they used to in their old ones.

Views are still impeded in top-flight Premier League grounds in football. You can never eradicate the problem completely and I can't honestly say I've had my view impeded massively except for near-capacity crowd games.

You're talking about stadia and views from grounds such as Headingley. I was making the point that most grounds, even in the Premier League in football with all the money, glitz and glamour, still has grounds where viewing of matches is restricted.

I agree, why promote Keighley, Batley, Dewsbury, Hunslet, Barrow, Halifax for having (at various times within the SL era) the product on the pitch when we can promote Bronco's,Celtic,Widnes,Paris,Catalan cos they've got nice stadiums.

Maybe, with a bit of persuasion we could get Swinton to move to Old Trafford, Gateshead to move to Ibrox, Skolars to Wembley, South Wales to Millenium Stadium, Bramley to Nou Camp, Thatto Heath to Anfield and standards will be raised beyond belief cos we'll all have a nice expensive seat with an unobstructed view and no pesky passionate fans shouting and balling supporting there side.

It's the same tired argument all the time. It's used for expansion. It's used for finances. It's basically used for any off-field criteria that people don't like. They make it out that the person arguing for it is arguing that they think it's the only thing that matters.

I wasn't having a pop at anyone FFS.......but because I stated my opinion that Belle View and Odsul are not what you'd call state of the art I got jumped on. Fact remains, based on the 2.5 years of licencing so far, Bradford are in the bottom group of clubs when it comes to on-field performance....and even then, I didn't specify Bradford.

Yes we have, apparantly work on the East Stand extension and new North Stand begins straight after the derby.

The Aussies dig admittedly is kinda warranted (although my defence with that is name one club who's won promotion and survived relegation with a mostly British squad?!), but slowly things are getting there e.g. Welham having a fantastic season, Sheriffe looking promising, same with Taylor and Beaumont, Watts still most of his career in front of him, etc. People forget we were in Hull's shadow for many, many years, so any young lad in Hull with talent was always going to choose Hull instead of us when both were in separate leagues (same as I would have done - have to put your career and family over who you support, would be insane not to). We are slowly changing things though, and IMO both clubs will be bringing through great young players for many years, and thankfully we can both now offer SL rugby, so hopefully the days of young players been lured away (e.g. Wilkin to Saints) are now gone.

2007 was 4 years ago.

Technically the East stand extension has been started and then stopped again due to planning issues.
Land cleared trench's started to be dug and then its on hold.
Temp stand will be coming down after the derby in June and be going to the south end if it doesn't end up in bits when its moved and new north stand has gone out to tender again apparently penciled in for June, Plus we have apparently purchased this for our new scoreboard/advertising platform.
