I would heartily agree that if Catalans and Toulouse could find a significant TV deal then let's go for the 14. I think it's wrong to have the two French clubs not in the same league. If they can attract a TV deal then put both in Superleague going to 14 so that IS French expansion but not at the expense of the contraction of the English game to accommodate it. That's what I am against not that they are Gallic!!

But if no TV deal put them both in the Championship. They have to be playing each other to really get things going surely...??.

Well cherry picking happened before when we had licensing and what the RFL/SL felt were strategically important clubs were given a lot of leeway and allowed in Superlague especially the Celtic Crusaders. Harlequins were persevered with despite struggling. Established clubs did complain. Halifax were not happy.

It happened in 1996 when they didn't just use the top 12 clubs, with Featherstone and Salford being elbowed aside for London and Paris. They were not happy. Keighley and Batley didn't get the promotion they expected. they were not happy. So I appreciate your purist stance but it's more a business than a sport and they must IMHO go for the 12 by choosing someone just like above, and if others are unhappy tough. If it turns out to be a wrong choice tough.

For me running with 11 clubs and creating a terribly unbalanced fixture list will allow the phoney baloney TWP 's antics to just go on making things a mockery long after they have gone and we just don't need that reminder week after week of that terrible mistake. Out of those that have offered to fill in one must offer more than the rest even if was just via a collective opinion of a selection group.
