Each club is currently bracing itself for a return to training and the reality that they may have to independently fund antigen testing, PPE and regular deep cleans, at a time when these are all in high demand. The estimated monthly cost for this equates to a player’s salary for an entire season, which is clearly a major issue for our club and certainly was not accounted for in the operating budget. The length of time for which this will continue and the expected date for supporters to make a return to stadiums remains uncertain, although initial plans are targeting late September. At that alarming rate however, the impact on future playing budgets would quickly become catastrophic for a club that is already required to consistently punch above its weight via shrewd acquisitions and cost controls throughout. Our capacity to make up this difference in budget will also be significantly hampered. The clearest example of this is through the immediate loss of matchday revenue opportunities, but the pandemic’s impact on the wider business community will also limit potential to engage sponsors for next season. It is therefore essential that those of us who are already behind the club continue to be. I hope that is through physically supporting the team from the stands for as many of the remaining fixtures as possible, but we must face the reality that it is unlikely to be an option for some time. If we have 8k season tickets and everyone has a number each then thats over 400k a year and some might take more than 1. I have upped mine to 3 recently. If there was a big push on it and willingness then it could amount to a mega amount of cash. If we could get 10k wigan fans have 2 a week. A million quid goes a long way.

I have season tickets for myself and two grandkids and don't want any refund if it helps the club.I considered the lotto after IL s letter but as the lotto supports the academy and we are losing our best prospects ie sutton, Williams ,Gildardt, Rushton and possibly Smithies and Partington would I be helping wigan or teams in theNRL

That is a bizarre way of looking at it to be honest but you are certainly entitled to look at it that way. What i would say is that money for everything comes out of the same pot which is IFL’s pocket to fund the shortfall year by year. As i have said before and it is probably getting a bit boring, there are 2 options.

1. Carry on as we are and produce players good enough to attract interest from the nrl which means we have a successful side.

2. Stop producing good kids and end up with a mediocre side?

I know which i want, hope this helps in your dilemma as to wether to join the £1 a week lottery which like i say is a great and easy way for the club to generate some big big money at minimum cost to individuals and a chance of winning something back.

In the case of Rushton, I find it rather strange that a any Aussie club should be giving a three year contract to any player when the player has never played any first team games and there are Academy players at Wigan and indeed other club's who are just as good and even played a first team game.

I have repsonded to the IL letter and had no replay as of yet( as mentioned in ealrier post) . One of the points in my response was I would like to see what incentives etc that the club would be offering and I would respond again when I had all the facts.

My major concern is the possibility of home games with limited fans in attendance and the clubs plan for that scenario.
