Better than Hodgson? And surely not better than Clark "by a bloody mile"?

| Bottom line, Hodgson has been shining every week, and doing it against generally much better opposition than Houghton, Roby, Clark face week in, week out. Should be first name on the team-sheet.

Interesting definition of 'some distance', not sure I agree

He is, would also do very well in the NRL, however Hodgson has been one of the best players in the NRL, so deserves a start, if we are to play two hookers then it's between Roby, Clarke and Houghton, the latte has outplayed the other two on every occasion this year, but think the other two maybe a better option as a bench hooker.
Sneyd isn't quite ready to play international rugby yet, still a bit inconsistent.
Taylor is an outstanding prop him and Hill are the best two props in the league and not much between them, I'd have them both in the 17 with Graham and G Burgess.
If Bennett has seen the last two Hull games, Shaul might have just blown it as he had saved his worst two games for when Bennett is watching.

Doesn't make him right and looking at the squad he has picked a few on reputation rather than form.
Also Kyle Amor? Must be a good few props better than him this year (or the last few seasons)

Watkins has been gash all season.
Even if you judge him on his past history in an England shirt he was gash last year.
O' Laughlin is a great player but I am not convinced about his fitness. A fully firing fit rested O'Loughlin would be good.
I also don't get the hardaker and hall selections from Bennetts list I rate hall very highly but his injuries and I think a couple of performances this year have been poor.

| so there you go, if you want international honours better sign for wigan or leeds. actually not too much of a problem with the wigan contingent but hardaker and watkins? both have been way below the standard required this season. are they suddenly going to turn it on like a tap. seems like the international setup is becoming more of a members club of which it is hard to join for any outsiders

| Don;t have a problem with Hall, Roby etc being involved in a 40 man meet up. They've performed well at international level and just need to rediscover their form. If Roby is at his best, he's the best hooker we have. It's not the final 17. However there are some strange players in the meet up. Joel Tomkins? He's awful. Ben Westwood is no longer good enough for international level. Kyle Amor

He hasn't been gash. He's been in a rubbish team. His defence has been fine and he's the finest athlete we have in the game over here. It's also not as though there's plenty of English centres banging on the door for selection.
Personally I wouldn't have O'Loughlin in the team but if he's captain then he has to play. If he weren't captain then I'd replace him with Whitehead and bring Westerman on to the bench.

| Nobody will ever agree. It's boring now. It happens in every international team sport.
International selections will come from established teams for obvious reasons. However, if someone deserves to get in, they will. It's not a personal vendetta or a slight against your team or the player you feel should be included.
Anyway, the majority of the invitees (it was just to a meeting ffs) come from the top 3 teams in the league. What more can your ask for?

| I would be shocked if George or Tom Burgess made Wayne Bennett's squad. They have been shocking this year. Particularly George. And Tom is doing his best to move to Grid Iron. Plenty of good props around for us to be carrying two on their surname alone.
