| i like the concept, i love jon wells, him and carney could be the future(carney needs to stop flubbing his lines though) not overly crazy at the amount of pawing at the screen that is going on though.

Same here. Sky+ it then tune in about 30 minutes later to see all the guff, half time waffle etc at X30 speed. Lineker and Co. get the same treatment on Match of the Day.

| Absolutely brilliant section, particularly given most RL coverage in this country isn't exactly high grade analysis.
Quote ="Alffi_7"Have they done it before? That segment was absolutely fantastic. Not sure how it would work if Huddersfield would have lost the game....? Is it more a boots an all feature rather than an after game feature..? Or maybe there is room for both?'"
I think it would be worth doing it for both, just have someone from a non-tv game on the Boots and All section. If Huddersfield would have lost, I'd have assumed it would be Luke Walsh doing it maybe?

they said right at the beginning that broughy would be doing it, i imagine the focus would have shifted to what we did wrong rather than the things we did well?

| Wells is brilliant and exactly what I want from the coverage. I want to see how and why the tries were scored. Not some out of date claptrap from Stevo, or Eddie trying to sound like he knows what he's on about.
Carney' good too and is getting better all the time as a presenter.
Ideally I'd have Carney as presenter as well as bits with Wells.
Eddie or a new person as main commentator (but only match commentator, no presenting or analysis)
A guest (Kear/Noble etc) along with one of Wells, Carney or Clarke as 2nd & 3rd commentators. (But a max of 3 in total)
Then Wells & Carney doing the analysis.
I still think Eddie has a place if he's restricted to just commentating because I think he's pretty good at that, but Stevo, as much as I like him, he's had his time. And the sooner we can boot Stuart Cummings out of Rugby League entirely the better.

They have a commentator in O'Connor who literally doesn't know what he's talking about. He tried to claim tonight that Daryl Clark hasn't played well this season because Warrington "throw the ball about", until it was pointed out to him that they have made the least passes of any team in the league. The fact that we have thoughtful and intelligent analysts sitting around doing nothing while a glorified fan like this is on commentary week after week is an insult to the viewers. McDermott is no better either.

Even if you had lost, I'd have imagined there would still have been some successful plays put on by Brough which they could have looked at. If it was a major capitulation, probably what went wrong yeah, but there's always gonna be stuff to talk about for a halfback, whether good or bad.

yeah true, but it would have been good to get a perspective from a losing player ( although not wishing that we lost )

| Wholeheartedly agree about Wells.
He is outstanding.
Carney as a presenter is very good too.
As said I don't mind Eddie as a commentator but Stevo needs to be retired (with honours)
O'Connor is worthless to me, even on preplanned Boots and All but I don't agree about McDermott. He knows his stuff, they just don't use him well enough.
I hope they don't try and make him into a characature like Stevo.

He is marginally more knowledgeable than O'Connor (still nowhere near enough for a TV pundit), but he is much worse for waffling about inane rubbish. Hearing him openly cheerleading for Leigh during this afternoon's match was embarrassing.

| I actually enjoy Wells' analysis - he is enthusiastic, knowledgeable and doesn't seem preoccupied with any one particular team over another - or indeed, with himself, which is refreshing.
I can't work out why Sky don't refresh things and save a few bob in the process, by retiring the increasingly dire Eddie and Stevo, replacing them with Carney and Wells, and shedding some of the unnecessary hangers on, starting with Terry O'Connor and Stuart Cummings - who are stealing money. I can only assume that they don't care enough about the quality of the presentation for a producer to actually listen one week and realise that it's shambolic.

| Wells is fantastic as a match analyser. Carney is a great anchor.
Eddie is past it as lead commentator. The less said about Stevo the better. He expired a decade ago as colour commentator.
Some will disagree, but I actually like Rod Studd as a lead commentator. He speaks clearly, can keep up with the plays, is passionate and can pull off an amusing quip at times (unlike Eddie, whose sense of humour was dated even in the 80s).
Phil Clarke is unnecessary. He introduces ridiculous and irrelevant statistics in an attempt to justify his position. Jon Wells would do this better IMO and be able to actually make it relevant with links to his own analysis.
Cummings is also unnecessary. He's only there because Eddie and Stevo don't know the rules, and if you just listen to the VR during replays we wouldn't need a former ref on the team.
Barry and Terry I'm undecided. They don't irritate me as much as other people on here it seems. They're both far better than Stevo, but that's hardly the benchmark of success!
Bill Arthur is a bit bland for me. He's OK, but dull. Good enough for touchline analysis.
I'd get rid of Eddie, Stevo, Clarke and Cummings for sure.

Studd won't be 100% committed to the RL coverage though as he does darts, and when the dart and RL clash, he always seems to be with the PDC doing Sky commentary on whatever tournament they are running.

For me, Wells & Carney are the future of the Sky commentary team.
I don't mind Rod Studd either (streets ahead of bouncin' Bill)... maybe if he got more RL air time, then we'd see him less in Darts? Until that happens, I for one can't blame him for keeping a foot in both camps.
As an aside, if they were to get ousted, Eddie and Stevo could probably secure parts in any future "Supercar, the Movie".

| Letting Eddie and Stevo go is a no-brainer (for mine).
Of the rest of the supporting cast I'd bin Rod Studd - he makes me cringe - Phil Clarke and Terry O'Connor.
I'd have Bill Arthur as main commentator, Brian Carney as host - with some fine tuning - Barrie McDermott, Jon Wells and Stuart Cummings, but I'd have Stuart offer his opinion on as a pundit instead of just a mouth piece for the officials. Perhaps a coach for the technical input, or Wells to continue that.
