I don't post on any other RL site, I have other interests outside of RL - which along with golf is the only sport I watch live.

Both my sons play at elite amateur level and have done so since being eleven years. My support for grass roots rugby league is like that of hundreds of parents who encourage their kids to play RL i.e. transport too and from training/matches, financial support with kit, subs, raffles etc standing outside in northern England in November-February on pitches exposed to the elements like Elland is no fun.

This is why I don't take you seriously because you talk about supporting the game, paying your subscription to Channel Nine doesn't count as support IMO. When you get out and get involved in an amateur club, get off your backside and attend a few games I will start taking you views seriously. You and Dally are clones and typical of Sydney sports fan - and we know that will not happen - as the saying goes actions speak louder than words. You are the worst type of hypocrite.

On expansion, when the clubs can generate sufficient revenue streams that they don't have to rely on non-RL related punters stuffing coins into slot machines then I would consider expansion.

When the clubs have reached saturation point in terms of attendances then I would also consider expanding, how often do any of the clubs in the NRL fill their grounds to capacity?

When all the current clubs have facilities that would be considered world class then I would also consider expansion - how many clubs in the NRL can claim to have world class stadiums?

The reliance on SSI youngsters would also be an issue for me. If you see what has happened in the West Indies to cricket the same will happen to RL in Australia.

Expansion is great if you have reached saturation point - RL in Australia is far from that.

I have given you four reason why expansion should not be considered at this point - those points - the SSI youngsters aside - are equally valid with regards to SL.

All you have done is what Dally does when he doesn't get his own way - behave like a child, you need to grow up and accept yours is not the only view point or do what Dally does - post articles from other people and agree with them.

Ghosts of ’95 don’t scare Perth

Of the four teams which joined the premiership in 995, only the Warriors and North Queensland are left. But just when the Perth Reds looked certain to have life breathed back into them in time for 2013, they suddenly fined themselves confronted with the ghost of the long lost fourth member of the class of ’95, the South Queensland Crushers.
Sure, the Ipswich NRL bid which surfaced last week is not going to be called the Crushers or play in black and gold. There’ll be no St John or Garrick. But although the idea of a second team at Suncorp Stadium is far from new, it could be seductive for the safety first minded members of the new Independent Commission.
“I certainly think it’s going to be challenging for them – that South East Queensland corridor is pretty crowded” says Reds CEO John Sackson when asked about the bid being assembled by the Ipswich Jets. “Especially when you consider they will have Big Brother – the Broncos- right next door. It will be commercially very competitive.”
But Sackson says the Reds aren’t spooked. “We’re happy with the way our bid is progressing” he insists. “I think when you look at new markets for television, is a new team in South East Queensland going to convert more viewers to Rugby League? Where as there is no doubt a team in Perth would expand the total television market for Rugby League. We have a commitment from the government for a $83 million in upgrades for NIB stadium and we’ve had a soft launch for our membership drive which is about to become a lot more sophisticated. We’ve got another meeting with the Department of Sport and Recreation on September 16th and we are in talks with the Dragons to play another pre-season game here next year. Provisionally it will be Feb 12th against Melbourne. Souths want to play two games back to back over here and there is a proposal in with WA events corp for next year.”
The Reds hope to have their final bid document at the NRL by March next year.
“We are talking to some very big companies about sponsorship- we know we have to amass a fair bit of capital” Sackson says. “It is all going to come down to the Commission, which we are told will be in place by November.
