While the original concept is e good one , ie it is time for some displeasure at the recent decisions of the RFL to be highlighted , the original wording is wrong , however I think a more interesting slogan is now in the offering , one that many clubs will support , well those outside SL anyway

Look, sorry Halifax supporters, but your club didn't get a franchise this time around. We'd have loved to see you in Super League, but sadly, there cannot be places for everyone.

The franchise model is in place for the very reasons you cite as being reasons FOR P&R - finances. How can a club possibly get things right on or off the field with no stability? This is not association football, with Arab millionairs and oil tycoons willing to put billions in - this is Rugby League, and we have to be responsible, otherwise ALL clubs bar the very fittest will potentially face ruin in their strive to compete.

And what of the relegated clubs? We all know VERY well that if you get relegated, your club suffers a massive drop in income, which if not managed ruthlessly - ie get rid of staff, playing and otherwise - will KILL YOUR CLUB.

As an aside, quoting a Kevin Sinfield comment from 2005 does not vindicate your story. It was six years ago - perhaps you ought to ask him what his up to date views are, now that the franchise model has been tried and tested, and now that he's a bit older and wiser. He may well have changed his mind now he's seen the model for himself.

I would urge the Halifax Supporters responsible for this to reconsider. Whether they believe P&R is the way forward is irrelevant. The fact is this is coming across as being very bitter, and an attack on the very organisation that allows them to compete as a professional Rugby League club, not to mention alienating to a lot of the fans who have accepted they have to grin and bear the situation.

So what do you suggest they do instead ?

Fair doo's , so why not just state that fact , rather than encourage a club to fiddle attendances just so they can pretend that there were 2 clubs in the Championship qualified to apply ?

Although I'm a Wakefield fan I sympathise with the Fax fans and its rather easy for clubs safe in SL to 'look down' at other clubs supporters, even if you don't agree with thier
opinions.

Indeed. I can take the brush off by Robinson - he follows a proper SL A grade club. But when a Huddersfield fan writes "I am fed up of tin pot clubs" it really slams home the stupidity and ignorance of some people. Timing is all important - i'm sure if we wheel ourselves back 20 years he wouldn't be sounding so cock-headed. Mrs Bouquet (Bucket) is alive and well on these forums.

The only ones spitting dummies are the Fax supported club who can't accept that for all Wakefields failings, they had a better bid than theirs.

Only prob with that is that they, or some Halifax fans, could end up looking a bit daft.

I didnt say it was required for them to get a license, i said it was required for them to guarantee themselves a license.

The object of licenses, the object of the RFL and the SC and pretty much all the rules of off the field SL is based on getting the bottom clubs to the level of the top clubs. That isnt achieved by throwing away the growth already gained by Wakefield so Halifax can try in three - five years time to be slightly less crap than the crapest club in the competition.

At some stage you will need to accept that your 'we' is a tiny fraction of those brought to RL by SL and the things the RFL are doing.

You arent forgotten, you get a fair amount, you just refuse to accept that your club is in the position it is in because of your club and its limited appeal is because it has a limited appeal. Not because of the big bad RFL.

Although franchising does bring some benefits, in that it allows the club to play youngsters rather than just buying Aussie has-beens to get through another season, or forces clubs to consider fan comfort, as a sports fan, I am all for promotion and relegation.

Let the cream rise. If we fail, let us fight our way back on the field.

The difficulty you will have is the RFL regard franchising as a success, and those clubs who are not at risk but would be with promotion and relegation won't support a change. Who gave a stuff about the franchising decision, other than out of curiosity, apart from Wakey and Halifax, and to a lesser degree, Cas? None, that's who.
